My reaction: So you bring up an article from september 2011 to try make yourself feel better about what was said last week form an actual 3rd party dev. Which was this:

So far the hardware's been on par with what we have with the current generations. Based on what I understand, the resolution and textures and polycounts and all that stuff, we're not going to being doing anything to up-rez the game, but we'll take advantage of the controller for sure.'

The rest of the article is here:

http://www.metro.co.uk/tech/games/894222-wii-u-on-par-with-xbox-360-ps3-says-darksiders-ii-dev

Not too mention that "THQ employee" sounds rather iffy as well...

Not that I'm claiming that the Wii U won't be more powerful than the PS3/X360, but the OP posted a "old" article from a site that doesn't look at all high profile, without an actual name of the employee, which just doesn't suddenly convince me.

But we'll see at E3 or around then what the final console will be like I suppose.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@OP: Just because the guy in the other thread about the other article posted a poll with a silly option, doesn't mean you couldn't have bothered to include a normal/serious poll.

Dude I’m always serious, I don’t get what your talking about

This is a WTF situation and that what I would have said if two contradicting things on the same day. Specs don’t go backwards as that will make things harder for devs and Nintendo wants things to go as smooth and easy as possible for them.

In the end the poll is not the discussion it’s the text in the OP that is

And btw this interview can be found ells where so I don’t get why it’s not to be taken as legit just because you don’t know the site lol

I smell more lazyness or easy port than Darksiders II using the Wii U horsepower instead.

Yay!!!

How do you know specs don't go backwards? How you personally been involved in the creation procces of a console before?

It makes perfect sense to me that it's possible that they overshot their early dev builds, perhaps using the specs of early builds would have just been to expensive to use for the final console for a pricepoint that Nintendo may be aiming for.

As for your "I don't get why it's not to be taken as legit", well if this was professional legit interview, the THQ employee would have been named as I have previously stated.

thats like saying the ps4 will be much more powerful than the ps3... it's expected of it. ps3 and xbox360 are over 5 years old.

regardless, i can still see my ps3 lasting me at least 3 more years of new game releases and like 4 years worth of gaming goodness so i wont upgrade for next gen before 3/4 years unless there's a must have game that i cant get on my current system.

We've had numerous reports since E3 that there have been multiple dev kits and each dev kit saw an increase of power from the last.

If what you were saying was true, they would have realised months ago and wouldn't have continued to send out improved dev kits.

Specs don't go backwards because you don't want to pull the rug out from under devs. You never court more power than is actually viable in any serious way, because devs will get pissed off if they suddenly find themselves having to cut things from games they're developing on your dev-kits. It makes more sense for one to start conservatively and then edge up as you get a clearer idea of what is market-viable for your final product.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I hate all the random conflicting reports, I wish we could get some solid info just so all this speculation would stop.

I honestly don't care about how powerful it is, as long as it can handle multiplats better than Wii I'll be happy with just one console again.

I imagine that the closer we get to E3 in June, the more conflicting reports we'll get as it'll be the last chance for wild speculation, with the final week seeing the most intense speculation. So you'll enjoy the next few months.

So wild speculation is now a direct interview with a wii u third party dev now??? These guys are actually working with the wii u at the moment so I would believe what Vigil have to say more than the pr bull we hear from Nintendo/sony and Microsoft the whole time.
