@barozi have you ever considered that they are not making it look better because they CAN'T?? Maybe the Wii u is not as powerful as some might have hoped. THe darksider devs have been optimistic im more inclined to go with what they say than most, especially since they have an actual game coming out

I'm certainly not one of the people who at one point believed that every game on Wii U could do 1080p at 60 FPS. However regardless of the actual specs, nowadays it is terribly easy to create a console that can outdo everything the Xbox and PS is able to do.

Where's the "I'm not surprised" option in your poll?
We've been hearing this same rumor for months now.

The Wii U is the Wii of the 8th generation. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? A little bit of both.

This sounds like the director doesn't know much about specifications. I mean, he uses a qualifier like "based on what I understand". He has really no idea what he is talking about.

On a sidenote, what's up with oniyide? Does his text not get through or has he become too lazy to write "This."?

His text probably just vanished. That's been happening alot lately, sometimes a whole paragraph.

On topic - Let's pretend that Wii U's tech was on par with PS360. Why is that problem? Every single time Wii U's tech gets brought all of a sudden this generation's graphics which have been praised to hell in back are not good enough. On top of that we looove to pretend SONY/MS will create tech breaking console when both have hinted on focusing on other areas

I think the problem is given how vocal nintendo have been about gaining 3rd party support, IF the next xbox and PS end up in the same ballpart power wise, and if there is a significant gap between them and the WiiU, it will be an exact repeat of 3rd party support for next gen for the ninty console. I do realize it's a lot of IFs and quite honestly we won't know for certain one way or the other until E3 But I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being the case. If so then Ninty is banking on the tablet controller to really kick off

Mark my words. PS4 and Nextbox will not be in any different ball park than Wii U.Period. There is no affordable technology to put them in a set up comparable to this gen. PS4 and Nextbox will most likely be stronger than Wii U, but only in the same way PS3 is stronger than 360.

Hardly suprising they already did it with DS, 3DS and Wii

Fixed.

DS was the most powerful handheld ever created when it released, and it was a huge step up from the GBA.

3DS is much more powerful than the PSP, just compare the best looking PSP game with a game like Resident Evil: Revelations or Mario, it's on a whole other level.

Who are "we"?

Most rumors (especially recent ones) have said that the Wii U is at least twice as powerful as Xbox 3, and another one suggested that Xbox 3 is only 20% more powerful than Wii U.

Even if the specs end up being closer than this gen, I would wager it will be a bigger difference than the ps3 to 360 difference for certain. Time will tell what sort of approach both MS and Sony take with their gen. Screw sales I just hope we get three different consoles altogether..much more interesting that way imho

First of all, I would take this with a grain of salt, as it's still early and is only coming from the mouth of one game developer, based only on what he's seen so far..

Second, even if what he said is true, I wouldn't really care, as long as it is priced appropriately ($200-$300 at launch). I think it's safe to say graphics have reached the point of "good enough." If I can get graphics of Gears 3 and Skyrim for my Wii U games, I'm a happy camper. And frankly, I don't see how graphics CAN get much better anyway, at least not to the point of making it very noticeable and warranting the purchase of an entirely new console. There is a reason MS and Sony are holding off on their new consoles, and it's not just because of the sales, but because they realize it would be difficult to convince consumers to make the jump from the current HD consoles to the new ones, since the current consoles' graphics are "good enough."

On par means it is as powerful, so it is easy to port. No where did he say it wasn't more powerful. If it wasn't more powerful, the phrase would be that current gen consoles are on par with the Wii U. You guys seriously overreact

Wow are hater so scared that Nintendo will outsell their console of choice again, that they are still refusing to call Wii U "next generation" ?
Now allow me to school you for a bit. Nintendo has been in the gaming industry longer than any of the others. Nintendo is just following their pattern of releasing a new console every 5.75 years.
No one gives a rats ass what you haters think! Wii U is nex gen.......period!
So this is what is coming around the corner, "No Wii U sales don't count because it's not current generation there can only be a battle between Sony and Microsoft"
And this guy says the Wii U power is on par with this gen.....buddy was probably working with the very first version of Wii U.
God I cant wait for E3 to shut all these people up!

Ultimately, I don't really care at all whether it's as powerful as the X360 or a current powerhouse PC. It doesn't really matter that much.

I personally wouldn't mind it being a bit weaker, because it would force Nintendo to make artistically appealing games (ala the SMGs, Skyward Sword, DKC:R), rather than trying to make graphically powerful games.
