Computer games do significantly better on the 360, video games do better on the PS3.

As for exclusives, Sony games don't sell on Sony systems. This isn't really anything new.

i wonder how much killzone would sell for 360? i believe more than for ps3^^

And I believe any JRPG exclusive for 360 will sell more on PS3... there games selling better on 360 and games selling better on PS3.

i posted this as well! you shouldn't quote me until i'm done ;)

i always edit my post i believe i did never write something not editing something more to it after few seconds haha

well... according to the site you are posting; PS3 as a tie ratio of games per console in NA of 10,66 gpc (games per console) while XB360 as 10,5 gpc in NA, just a bit less.
in the PS3 department NA is their strongest area, europe lags at 7,13 , japan sits at 5,42 and the rest of the world has a healthy 9,56...
so all your arguments are strange... why did you mention PS3, why do you mention NA... NA is the best zone and PS3 has healthy tie ratios for the size of user base...

Where are these figures from? I can't find them, I'd be very interested in reading the article/stats. Thanks.

http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/40979/USA/

On the right side of this page you will find the hardware and software totals for the individual systems, I am sure you know how to calculate the tie ratio.

Other regions can be selected at the top of the page.

Thanks! So the OP's topic is useless, good to know.

Those pesky, pesky facts.

So if the PS3 software is doing so great in NA then why have the console sales been so stagnant.

Who already bought the PS3 are buying games like  who already bought the 360  but less people want to buy PS3 intead 360 in Americas.

So simple... there two differents points.

1. Gamers in Americas buy more 360 than PS3.
2. Gamers in Americas buy similar games per console for PS3 and 360.

Seems like people have put your argument to the test with solid responses. You should begin tackling those (or at least absorbing their meaning). The sitaution isn't quite the picture you've painted.

'Solid responses' i.e. facts.

Unless the vgchartz nnumbers are off by a big margin somehow, or I'm missing something.

I use it for exclusives and movies. 360 all other gaming. Xbox live is such a better service there is no reason to play any multiplatform game on the PS3 over the 360. Well sometimes to whore some easy trophies.

Well there have been some logical arguments made on this thread, which is a nice change.

I would tend to agree that gamers have different preferences and that the divide for PS3 vs 360 on Mass Effect probably can be attributed to the PS3 missing Mass Effect.

In addition, I was surprised to see that the PS3 attach rate is so high and with the large amount of exclusives on the system it is logical that people are spend their gaming budget on a broader spectrum of games than 360 owners.

It would also seem that with hardware sales being as low as they are that people have stopped purchasing the PS3 as primarily a blu-ray player.

It seems that Sony has not attracted the casual soccer moms with the same success as Wii and 360 so that likely explains why the 360 moves a lot more hardware but the software attach rate is slightly higher on the PS3.

It makes sense but it is still quite annoying as a Sony fan to see a great franchises like Mass Effect, Borderlands and Dragon Age sell 1/4th to 1/2 as much as the 360.

We have two PS3 systems in our house (one is already broken with the flashing red light) and neither are used for games.  I use mine for Blu-Ray and DLNA for streaming, that's it.  I think we have five games total between the two of them.  I have 3 friends with PS3 systems and only one of my friends uses it for gaming.  We made this decision early on based on the following:

  • User interface was not intuitive
  • Xbox came out first so there was a natural migration towards playing xbox
  • I have about 40 friends on Xbox (and like I said, only five people with PS3s)
  • The controller on PS3 is horrendous - don't know why Sony basically just copied the PS2 controller but the Xbox one just fits perfectly in your hands (personally this was my biggest gripe and really put the final nail in the coffin)
  • Once I started getting achievements on Xbox I decided to stick with it
  • I don't like that every time my PS3 remote falls off the bed or my dog steps on it, it auto turns on
  • There was no cross-game (or even in-game at the time) chat to make games more fun

I know you said no PS3 bashing, but you have to look at the facts as to why some people migrated to, and ended up sticking with, the Xbox.  This post isn't bashing, it's just pointing out some reasons why people may have decided to stick with Xbox over PS3.  I was really excited about the system when it first came out, but too many small things just added up to ruin the experience for me.  Now we have four Xboxes in the house and over 150 games for them, while the PS3s gather dust.  Then again, the Wii's we have are used even less!

No. Because the software ratio is better on the PlayStation 3 than on Xbox 360 in US.

Honestly, I was not concerned why people chose the 360 over the PS3 but more so on why the PS3 owners seem to not support certain gaming franchises as much as 360 gamers.
