Aren't they using the Nintendo Game Coins like on 3DS?

Only for people that can walk around with their system.  To require some people to walk is asking for too much.

Yeah but use that on Wii-U, whenever you win something in the game, they reward you coins.

Nintendo already has an achievement system called stars and coins. Collect enough of them in one of their games and you unlock hidden levels, items, etc..

lol thats not the same thing.

Would be great to have. I was hoping the 3DS would have had one as well. It would make me replay levels to try and find everything. Sometimes an extra star isnt worth it, but something permanently tied to your mii to brag to your online friends with would be cool.

Trophies and achievements don't add replay value to games. People thinking it does is one of the many problems with the "Game Industry".

So long as i can trade them in for rewards of some sort (like if they integrated it with the Club Nintendo system, where you could double the purchase reward for a game if you really clean out the game, and then can spend it on virtual games or swag)

Otherwise, it will have no meaning, just like the lack of meaning on competing platforms.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I think it can add replay value to some games, in a way.  Plus, it's just fun trying to work to earn those achievements.

One would think Nintendo would have been the first one to implement some kind of achievement system seeing as it kind of takes gaming back to the Nintendo days. Its like you spending hours on a NES game trying to beat the final boss and then do it after an all-night session while your friends are still struggling. Then you can go and rub it in their faces for being the MAN.

Since the games nowadays are nowhere as difficult due to a huge influx of casual gamers who would otherwise not even play the game if it involves too much investment of time, achievements are a way developers can put in these crazy challenges for those hardcore gamers who still care deeply for gaming. Plus you have an actual record of the achievement for the world to see. Achievements are the closest thing to "beating" a game nowadays imo. Hence I imagine nintendo should really incorporate something that takes gaming back to the old days, you know rewarding the more dedicated gamer for their accomplishments.

Only out they actually do something. Right now they're perhaps the biggest gimmick in video games, and they completely lack any purpose.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Exactly!
Trophies or achievements never spoke to me that much, but if i could get something with them... now that would be great!
to what you said i`ll just add that Nintendo could allow to use them as discount on the online purchase of their games or 3rd party games - as a mean to encorage people to buy 3rd party games.

Unlocking items, characters, levels, etc.. sounds a hell a lot better "achievement system" than getting a stupid virtual trophy.
