If Sony really tries to do the PS3 / PSV strategy again with the PS4, they will be in serious trouble. The PS3 basically lost 1 billion USD / year since release and the Vita seems like it is losing money as well.

It is about time Sony stops listening to their internet fanboys and make hardware that is powerful and affordable. A console 6 times as powerful as the PS3 is more than enough if you look at Uncharted or Killzone graphics.

this post....makes no sense

this was aimed at the orbis rumor for the PS4.

Sony should stop trying to get ridiculous specs for their consoles. They are bleeding money and the average customer shows them that they don't even care. They try to sell and price their products as "premium devices" and have no success with it. I say make the PS4 reasonable more powerful than the PS3 and give it a low entry price.

future proofing the console is the point, not power for power sake. 4k resolution means nothing now sure but 6-7 years from now not the same case at all.

they're not bleeding money anymore which is why the post makes no sense, the cost of the ps3 was 850 dollars roughly, and sold for 250 dollars less than what it was worth, yet the vita is only 150 dollars as per cost of components. This is completely different, the Vita is extremely powerful without the losing money  part which is why Sony isn't worried about the sales as of now, launch is launch, and more often than not no indication of how a console will turn out which is something Sony knows all about. (but the internet seems to forget like.....ALL the time)

Please stop this futureproof marketing talk. It turned out that the Xbox 360 was just as futureproofed as the PS3 and MS making an overall profitable business. Heck even the Wii was just as futureproofed as the PS3. So all these technical advantages over the Wii were good for releasing the console one year later.

All this futureproofed nonsense is only mentioned for the videogame industry. Will the iPad 3 be futureproofed? Probably not, because there will be the iPad 4 in 12 - 24 months. It is not about the specs anymore.

LoL at 4k resolution might be coming up in 6-7 years. You know what else is coming up in 6-7 years? The PS5. (And I highly doubt there will be 4k games to begin with).

x-box got kinect, the only thing keeping it relevant and wii-u totally wasn't annouced last year..., how long do you think Sony will be able to realistically support the ps3 once next gen starts, remember this gen isn't over yet

and about ps5 comming up in 6-7 years...will it, I mean ps4 should have been announced last year and released this year if past treands were to be upheld, the ps3 is aging gracefully with no major gimmick keeping it alive and I'd put my money on it lasting longer than the ps2

Add a DS numbers.

Why PSP is so high :p? It launched durring holiday season?

Why don't you add DS in there? Would be interesting.

Assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups. And even if accurate, is this bad news or something? It was well done by MS.

This gen is over as soon as the next gen starts, so 7 months from this point on. It might be over by now already if you see the decreasing interests in this generation. You should have been here in 2008, every week was a shitstorm about new numbers. Anyway, otherwise the PS2 generation is not even finished till 2015 and the SNES generation was still going in 2003, while the PSOne generation was still going when the PS3 released.

I am not saying the PS5 will be available in 6-7 years, but it will 'come up' - rumors etc. Just like Xbox 3 and PS4 are 'coming up' right now.

I don't know how we got here, but fact is that sony shoudl rethink their strategy. They really don't need a financial nightmare like the PS3 all over again.

and you used the Vita to illustrate that point, only the Vita is not a financial nightmare which is my point
