Sorry guys I have been on for some time, my computer locked out and now I have a new one. However, this computer is only used locally, so I can't be on here as long as before (plus school has started).

How does a computer lock out? Yuou forgot the password?

Thought this was fun.

Desert Gold IV: Further Essential Gaming on Wii
21. August 2012 by George Moujaes

In the Valley of Gold, underwater caves overflow with overlooked and unseen treasures. This is the land of quasi-shelved off nuggets, out of a now endless Wii backlog. For their diversity or singularity, their originality or familiarity in the console’s catalogue, here is a proposed addendum for your current gaming journey, the final sessions on a playlist that can offer something fresh or pleasing to any console enthusiast, regardless of your leanings. Take your next steps on this five part episodic, where 24 definitively special experiences promise to round out any which active gamer’s thirst for more.

Gamer’s Darling

Dead Space: Extraction

Dead Space on the Wii is the benchmark on-rails shooter, Nintendo offerings notwithstanding. Every hour out of the 6 grand total demonstrates a classy, quality product by EA: it is entertaining (drop-in/drop-out local multiplayer is perfect for anyone daring to join in on the horror playing grounds), it builds engaging setups throughout 10 atmospheric/claustrophobic levels, and as a prequel, it tops that with an already notorious fiction. It honours its 18+ class type with lots of required dismemberment, and gore. For the dedicated gamer, this is an innovative, (beautifully) cinematic and thoroughly rewarding product, again and again.

A Landmark Sports Title on Wii

Grand Slam Tennis

EA has proven it is pro-Nintendo this modern generation of gaming. Not at Nintendo’s caliber (while not necessarily needing to be) they have delivered completely different, completely complementary experiences to the Wii’s catalogue with their sports titles, and their dedicated, entertaining and rewarding game design. The culmination of these points all seem to resume best in Grand Slam Tennis, the best possible tennis game, be it arcade (a bit more in this case) or simulated, thanks in part to Wii MotionPlus. Forego Sega’s arcade heavy Virtua Tennis, and 2K’s simulated Top Spin for the best of both worlds on this title.

Slow Burning, Sensual and Nostalgic

A Boy and his Blob

Can a video game be ‘sensual’? In all respects of the word, yes, on this vintage recreation from the NES era. WayForward breathes life into A Boy and his Blob with meticulous, authentic hand painted animations, intimate, immersive design and holistic, magical stages. A charming treehouse hub and firefly pinewood dwellings are highlighted by simple yet effective melodies. This kind of ambience is edged out by a fun gameplay scheme: feed your blob different jelly beans to obstruct or create pathways around obstacles. You’ll even find yourself balloon-soaring down the mountainscapes in parts. Don’t miss out on this treasure of a game.

The Best Title You Never Played

Wario Land: Shake it!

At a time when I was searching for more than just a mainstream Mario blockbuster to enjoy, Wario Land appeared off the beaten path like an optimistic turn for the Wii’s selection. Progressively, I noticed the presence of detail in presentation, subtlety in design and environment layout, things I wished for as they were made on past consoles… Slightly more researched game experiences, essentially. Wario Land on Wii offered this in spades, fortunately, and was my first confirm that the Wii indeed could reliably provide alternative options. The game animates like a saturday morning cartoon, plays with energetic, retro charm, and displays an interesting escape mechanic where you are supposed to blaze-sprint back to the start of levels on self-revealing paths.

Here’s hoping you took to the listed games as much as I did. In part V, check out a surprising array of lands in 7 WiiWare games - islands on sea or sky, retro-urbane, alienesque, and some cozy Nintendo terrain.

Nintendo game listed for $50,000 eBay

Patrick O'Rourke

Updated: 2 hours ago

A rare original Nintendo (NES) cartridge was recently listed on eBay for an astounding $50,000.

The game, an english prototype of the unreleased title, Final Fantasy II was original shown at the 1991 Consumer Electronics Show. The seller, Frank Cifaldi, a gaming historian decided to release the game after hanging onto it for a number of years.

Final Fantasy II for the NES never made its way to the United States. Numbering of games in the franchise were originally jumbled during the Nintendo and Super Nintendo eras due to the fact that the franchise skipped from Final Fantasy to Final Fantasy IV, but a later title was still named Final Fantasy II.

The game’s eBay page gives a detailed description of the title’s history.

“A pre-production sample cartridge for any video game from this era is rare indeed, but for one to survive for a game that was never actually released is something of a miracle. Having that unreleased game be a part of one of the most important franchises in video game history is basically unheard of.

I have been the proud owner of this cartridge for over nine years now, and as far as I am aware, this is the only legitimate copy of the game that exists. Any other copies you have seen of Final Fantasy II for the NES have been bootlegs, this is the real deal.

It has been stored securely since it was originally purchased in 2003, and until I took the photos for this auction, it had not touched a console since that time.”

So if you’ve been waiting years to spend $50,000 on an extremely rare video game from 1988, now is your chance. This also isn’t the first time a Nintendo game has been listed on eBay for an obscene price.

U.S. to probe Nintendo, Kyocera on patents: report

By MarketWatch

The U.S. International Trade Commission said it has decided to launch a probe into 24 manufacturers, including Nintendo Co. and Kyocera Corp, for alleged patent violations in connection with wireless consumer electronics devices and components, Kyodo News reported Wednesday.

The investigation is based on a complaint filed July by three California-based manufacturers, the semi-judiciary trade body said in a statement.

The three companies call on the commission to "issue an exclusion order and cease and desist orders" on the wireless devices in question, the statement said.

The wireless devices and components are used for such products as smartphones and electronic tablets. The 24 manufacturers also include companies in Canada, China, the Switzerland, South Korea and Taiwan.

The USITC is expected to set a target date for completing the investigation within 45 days after the launch of the probe and it will make a final determination in the investigation.

No, my computer was a rental and I didn't pay for it, so they locked it out.
