Forums - Sports Discussion - Colts? Manning? Facepalm.

I may just be venting, but does anyone else think that this is the biggest overreaction in sports history? There is a rumor that Manning will announce that he will leave the Colts, and all because of an injury. That's not all, the Colts did horribly, and purged a good chunk of their coaching staff, and all because of an injury. The Colts were a PLAYOFF team before the injury, so do they really need to take such drastic actions at the slightest whiff of a bad season? Why do all of that when Manning will be back next year, and at full strength?

Well they obviously need a better quarterback whether it be a returning Manning or a new one. The Colts just plain sucked last year. I didn't even watch any of their games but just looking at their record it is pretty obvious that they fell from the top. Did their defense have a lot of injuries last year? They have never been the best at D but didn't their D really suck last year? They must have been taking advice from Texas Tech defensive coach.

They can't afford to spend money on Manning who has had so many neck issues. They'll pick up a GREAT first draft QB anyways. Coaching staff is getting axed because they should of had a better possible response to losing Manning for the season. Its pathetic that in such a strongly team oriented sport, ONE player's injury took the team from potential champions to worst team in the league. That means there were a lot of mistakes all over the board, not just Manning's injury.

As a huge colts fan and Indianapolis local, I have to agree with the decision. He's old, only has 2-3 more years in him, has only been to two super bowls for being an 'elite best ever quarterback,' and has a history with his neck. New era, for better or worse, it's the right thing to do.

The Halo francise is the most overrated bland game to ever hit the console market. It provides a bad name to all FPS that even showed effort at creating an original entertaining plot.

I probably have more ps3 games than you :/

Too bad they didn't get Cam Newton.  He looks to be a powerhouse in the future and did decently semi turning the Panthers in the right path.  What good quarterbacks are coming out this year?  I haven't been paying too close attention to draft or who came out of college this year.

Andrew Luck lol... That's why the entire season was the Luck Chase with the lower ranked teams.. The entirety of Indy wanted the Colts to lose every game to lock in the #1 draft pick.

Sounds like a decent pick.  I think it would be better for the Colts to get rid of Manning and start with a new franchise quarterback.  Probably most people in Indy feel that way I would assume.

The Colts are actually doing the right thing. There's no guarantee that Manning will ever be able to throw accurately again with the injury that he has. I wish him the best, but who knows?

By the way, I don't think that Luck is going to be that good, but I'm the same guy that said that Ryan Leaf would be awesome. So once again, who knows?

Luck should be amazing. He, like Manning before him, looks like a pro quarterback. He is basically the next Manning if he can stay injury free for that kind of time. Cam is a beast (and on my favorite team), but Luck looks like he could be an amazing talent.

If Manning is hit once the wrong way, 28 million wasted. Smart move but they should at some point offer him a staff position with the team. Or hell, even a media position if everyone is desperate enough.

Andrew Luck has been touted as the surest thing to be a succesful NFL QB since Manning.  Guy is smart, a great decision maker and can basically run his own offense (much like Peyton Manning.)  A lot of people also don't realize what a good athelete he is.  He had very similar measurable to Cam Newton at the combine (a similiar 40 time and better vertical.)

Robert Griffin III is also coming out, and will most probably be selected second.  Guy is a freak athelete, a track star who ran a 4'3 40 at the combine, but he is also a very smart and accurate passer.

I really think that both of these guys are going to be way more successful in the NFL then Cam Newton... but thats just me.
