It’s been a while since I’ve really played a First Person Shooter from start to finish. I actually think it dates back to Soldier of Fortune which I remember enjoying a lot.

Lately I’ve been thinking it could be cool to try to get back into this genre after all this time but since the idea of playing online against a group of foul-mouthed 13-year-olds doesn’t appeal to me at all, what I’m looking for is a fun, engaging and relatively long single player campaign.

Now that’s where I need your input, which of the currently popular FPS game series would better satisfy a single player oriented gamer?
