Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why do third parties use Wii success to fund PS3/360 bombs?

Anyone ever think what the game developers want? Could it be that the programmers like to push the limit with the technology and see what they can do? They may be a little bored of producing for wii standard hardware (I know it's more powerful than last generation but not overly). I imagine lots of them find 360 and ps3 programming more interesting after having done last generation to death. Not even just the programmers. How about the artists and production teams. People like to move forward. Sure the wii is a step forward with interactivity, but only very few of the development will have much input into the control scheme.

That's right.  All programmers care about is pushing technology.  That's why every game ever is made on the vastly technologically superior PC, and why no developers wasted their time on the PSX and the PS2, the weakest systems of their respective generations.

When the PSx appeared the competition was the Saturn, 32X ,Jaguar ,3DO ,Commodores CD32 ,Philips CDI ....and it was considerably above all of these .The N64 appeared two years later and yes it was more powerful but not too much and it lacked CD so it couldnt manage to transform that superiority into technical advantage but in FPS and 3D plattforming genres .The PCs of the PSX age were far inferior to the PSX ,and continued to be inferior until the dedicated graphics card appeared years later the PSx introduction .Stop talking nonsense please .

Lair probably ONLY sold what it did because of it's graphics xD The reviews certainly didn't help that one.

And I never stated that graphics are the ONLY reason a game sells guys, I just stated that by downgrading you can't help your sales >_> The wii's graphics aren't worse than the Gamecubes, and any game that would look worse gets ridiculed around here (was it Crus'n or whatever I don't remember the spelling on that xD)

Innovation always goes a long way, but it is definitely true about graphics selling as well. It's the only real way to show that your series is aging well. Aside from that, Graphics snag media attention, and that in it's self helps sell games.

There are a million reasons why some games sell better than other, but to say graphics don't help is total BS. Most humans are visual creatures, not by choice, but biological selection. Eye candy sells. Millions of terrible games have sold because of it XD

About dumping money into Wii games, not all games just magically sell well on the Wii, do you think No more heros would have sold better on the PS3 or 360? Who's to say? And I'm sorry to all, but the difference between the PSX < N64, or Gamecube > PS2 are seriously underminding the difference this time around. It's not even comparable this gen. The technology in the Wii didn't necesarrily move that far forward, it definately changed, and in the eyes of many it was a great change :) But I don't think it made leaps and bounds on the technological side of things. Innovative for sure, but advancing might be an overstatement.
