The 9 year wife issue a perfect example or moral relativism vs moral absolutism.

The Christian religion has many faults as well, but Jesus remains way more respected then the religion he created, which is quite interesting.

They are the same spirit come in a different time and under different circumstances, hence with differnt lives and different missions. But towards the same ends.

Read The Book of Revelation Chapter 11. The two witnesses mentioned in that chapter are Mohammad and his cousin (and son-in-law) Ali.

Also the multiheaded beast in the book of Revelations is The Umayyad Caliphate dynasty which corrupted Islam.

Its me and my friends had a debate and I wanted to know what others thought.

You are right about the Koran.

The story I know is the the Angel Gabriel came to Mohammed in a cave and Mohammed then told what he heard to those who listened and they wrote it down.

Also I could see some evidence (however compared to the past its been mostly dis proven) that Jesus was fake, however there is no real basis to say Mohammed was fake.

They lives were quite different though.

Jesus was betrayed and had no real support while Mohammed was older had a large family to support him.
Most important being his fathers friends and his Uncle (Hamza) and his cousin Ali.

What do you mean by fake?

Many say he never existed at all. It was a big myth or a hoax to fool people.

However the historical evidence clearly shows some sort of prophet or person believing to be a prophet existed during that time.

1) Yes, they got married at 14, but that marriage was arranged way before that. (poor girl?)

2) Wtf.

3) That doesn't matter, and you're still factualy wrong. At 1500 people went through puberty later than they do nowadays due to lack of nutrition.

How anyone can defend this religion is beyond me.

Okay this is bothering me so I'll clear this up. Firstly, Muhammad never had sex with Aisha. He didn't marry her because he wanted to, but it was arranged by his uncle because he was depressed after the death of his first wife and his uncle felt that Muhammad needed some youth in his life to make him happy again. Also, this worked with the culture of that time because many "higher-up" men didn't marry for love or lust, rather they married so they could gain control of the land from where the girl was from (this is crucial if you want to expand your audience to spread your belief). Multiple marriages were common during that time, and once again fit in with the culture and the era.

Finally, this marriage worked out for Muhammad as well. He raised Aisha as a daughter and she brought happiness to his life and helped him get away from his depression. He also taught her all of God's words (aka, the Quran) and since she was young, she was able to retain all of it. This was all according to the plan of Abu Bakr (Muhammad's uncle) because after Muhammad's death (she was 18), she was able to lead in the creation of the Quran and the Haddith because she remembered every one of God's verses thanks to her young mind. Muhammad also gave her a lot of authority, and she lead a lot of women's prayers and was a strong advocate for helping spread women's right in Arabia and other nations.

So in short, Muhammad raised Aisha as a daughter. She brought happiness to his life, she helped expand his audience, and she gained the authority to lead in the creation and education of the Quran and the Haddith. There was no "rape" or "pedophilia" involved as many people like to say when they attack Islam. So please, EDUCATE yourself before making ignorant conclusions or beliefs. Ironically, this is also a verse from the Haddith...

Interesting indeed. One has to remember though that todays society was very much shaped using christian values, ideas and norms, although heavy alterations that has been forced to be made (such as accepting gay marriage and abortions) made people question the entire religion. Jesus on the other hand managed to escape as he's just considered, mainly by atheists, to be a man of his time that lived as an as good man as he could based on the then current values (females ranked below men etc.).

And most importantly: He didn't write the Bible, so pretty much anything he said and did could turn out to be false. Why criticize a potential fictional character?

No it does not. Read my post and understand for yourself.

Your points sort of go along with the free pass Jesus gets with his more objectionable views.

He was a man of his time and did good in it.

Whatever the cultural norm was,  I think many find the child marriage objectionable as Mohammed was quite old and the fact that such marriages are between two young people in Western Culture.
