Something just happened to my computer, I was browsing the web and my firefox shut down immedately and my mouse started going crazy, it was clicking everything and it led to my nvidia gpu settings, I couldnt take control of the mouse so I had to shut down the computer.

What could have caused this?

You could start with a virus check. If that comes out clean try reinstalling firefox.

Tease.

I have a problem: I'm unable to do anything related to Windows Explorer, like opening My Computer, My Documents, Control Panel, etc because it freezes when I try to, and all I can do then is to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to terminate the process and start it again, but after that it will continue to freeze if I attempt to use Windows Explorer again. The applications that are open when this happens aren't affected.

My OS is Windows XP.

I was thinking of buying a Zalman VF900 for my 8800GT but heard that the weight tends to bend the video card board. Any personal experience with this card? If you haven't heard this problem I might as well get it since this thing idles at 70C...

Hey guys I bought a new HDTV and I want to use it as a monitor but im having problems. My new computer is able to do it fine(I plug in the cable into the white pc input using a converter) but my older pc which has a blue pc input does not display the picture on my tv. Is the older graphics card not compatible with my tv or is it someting else? I appreciate any help.

Sounds like your explorer.exe process is hosed. This can be tricky to fix but I would first scan for viruses in safe mode since that can cause these issues. If you are sure its clean then I would try running a repair with the XP CD. That should keep all your files in place, just repair the OS.

70C IDLE!!?? Wow... I'm afraid to ask what the temps are during load ;)
I don't have any experience with gfx coolers but you may want to check the air flow of your case. Make sure its clean (dust is PCs enemy) and try to move cables and such out of the way to allow air to flow smoothly in your case. Besides that you can try getting a gfx cooler or get a slot cooler to put underneath the gfx card. Either may help although 70C idle sounds very high.

The blue PC input is called VGA while the white input cable is called DVI. So does your TV have a DVI (white) or VGA (blue) input? Not sure why it wouldn't show but how old is the PC?

Actually, 70 idle is quite common for the 8800's...

Hmm so there is a VGA connection (blue) on the back of the TV and when you connect your old desktop to the TV and boot it up, it stays black and doesn't show anything. However, when you connect your new desktop to the TV, it shows normally. Without knowing the specifics of your older desktop, I am leaning towards the video card. There shouldn't be any options that would be different between the two desktops. So if you can get it to work with one, then the other should work the same unless it can't handle it. Do you happen to know anything about the age of the PC or the graphic card model. (right click My Computer | manage | device manager | click plus next to display adapter)

Dam I had an old 8800 GTX and that would get to 75C under load but it was more around 50C for idle. I would do some google searching for 8800gt cooling since it seems there are a bunch of reviews and posts with different suggestions. It does seem that many are stating higher idle temps but I would still take a look at the air flow in your case since that can really change temps for everything. Just a suggestion ;)

Dammit your sig is mighty distracting, I don't want to know what its from but I can't stop looking... grrr ;)
