Well, it doesn't seem like anyone here plays pokemon B/W competitively. But if you do or are interested in learning how to, then just ask. More people should see how truly fierce pokemon can be when played strategically.

I am interested but it's a grindfest. Lol! EV! EV! Although I don't have a B/W yet  and since B/W 2 was announced I am thinking of skipping B/W 1.

Unless the rumors are true about B/W 2 being a continuation of Black and White's story then I would reccommend you do just that. If the rumors are true I would reccommend you to try out the first one before the second.

Well yes, a large part of competitive battling is about preparation of your team. A part of the battle is decided on how well your team is, whether it has positive synergy and the members of your team fill in all the essential roles that are required of a good team.

EV training isn't much of a grind, just make sure you have pokerus on all of your pokemon and equip them with the necessary power item. You should be done in 15 minutes if you know what stat you are EVing. The real challenge (or most of it) comes in breeding your pokemon with the correct IV/Nature/Ability combination.

Anyway, B/W single battle mechanics remain mostly unchanged (single is competitive standard) from gen 4 but tbh I haven't played much singles in B/W. I have been leaning more towards the doubles metagame as that is what is used in the official pokemon video game championships that have been really picking up lately. So if you are interested in getting started, I'd suggest going for the doubles so you could participate in these tourneys sponsored by nintendo.

I play competitive, but the interest here seems rather low. My team is at perfect IVs and EVs for my most wanted stats so they can hold out nicely against a large variety of teams (including Ice ones)

Wow nice to see a fellow competitive player here. I didn't expect many but its still cool.

I assume you play single battles? I used to play a ton of single battle in gen 4 but recently have been playing more doubles as that is whats being used in the video game championships.

I participated in the VGCs last year, got up to round 3 with the team I made but the competition was pretty fierce. Couldn'g go this year but hopefully next time. Its a lot easier now in B/W to abuse the RNG to get near perfect IV combinations but I have yet to indulge much in the matter. So yea when I did breed last time (which was quite a while back) the pokies had some pretty nice IVs.

Sadly I can't join any tourneys even if I want to. Nintendo support here in my country is non existent.

Thats truly sad because the tournaments are a blast. Btw I believe Nintendo are starting to do tournaments over wifi as well which is pretty cool. I don't know if there are any limitations to that in terms of region, but I'd give it some time. I think Nintendo are doing very well in actually reaching out and making the entire competitive scene much broader. It gets better each year.

Both singles and doubles, but I have a higher proficiency for singles (my team's moveset is tailored more for singles on B/W). Still, there are some combinations that I can pull in Doubles (especially with Garchomp and Salamence as my starters), as I tried to cover every field possible with my team.

I didn't abuse RNG for perfect IVs on B/W mostly because I found that breedng is a heck of a lot "faster" and you don't have to indulge too much time into it (the Skyarrow bridge is a god-send from Game Freak for breeding&hatching). It still takes a lot of hours to pull out a decent IV/Nature combo, but it's worth it. Haven't yet participated on the VGCs this gen, mostly because due to a lack of time, but I did participate a lot on smogon on past gens (especially early 4th gen, Pearl mostly).

I sure hope so and that will make me more interested in playing pokemon.

Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 - Global Link Compatibility Confirmed

The official site has recently updated and has stated that the new battle season on the Global Battle Union will have a temporary pause during the duration and is scheduled to end sometime in June. It is announced that this pause is due to the Global Link going down during June in order for a renovation based upon the inclusion of Pokémon Black 2 & Pokémon White 2. It is currently unknown how much will change and what features will be added for these games nor do we know how long the maintenance will be but as soon as we do, it'll be posted here.

Here are my Pokemon plushies. You can find a TON of them at Disney World's Epcot in their Japan section of the park. They sell them in hordes in the Japan store. Not joking.

Here's the picture I took at the Japan store in Epcot of the Pokemon plushies, if you don't believe me. They had a lot of Black and White Pokemon plushies.
