Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

I'm burning a disc with it as we speak! The Developer Preview was sweet, so I'm ready for a good upgrade.

@ spurgeonryan

Windows 7 isn't a big change, not from Vista at least. Windows 8 is a complete reworking of Windows as we know it though (and is the one that gets rid of the start menu by replacing it with the start screen).

They're forcing Xbox Live on Windows users?

No, they are forcing Metro UI (which started on phones) on all Window's platforms. Its an awesome idea as I want to remove the kb/ms entirely and move to a fully touch based ecosystem.

Well I will try it for myself soon... but I can't imagine I will like it since I hate most of todays touch interfaces... even if they are multitouch and crap (and I can imagine controlling a touch optimized interface with a mouse is even worse...)

Looks like it's focused on simplicity and the more portable platforms. Well that's where the market is going anyways.

And if we want to play games?

MS won't remove the differentiation between their home console and their computer. So there will always be limitations.

However, I'm sure Live will be, in some form, pushed on Windows as well to continue the linkage between all of MSs products and OSs.

Wow, complete garbage OS just like Windows Phone. Tiles are ugly and who the hell wants to be touching their screen all day? My PC screen sits at least arms length in front of me and I have no plans to mount it in my desk so I have to look down all day. The desktop OS works great, all they need to do is make it faster with some better organization. Windows 8 will not be going on my PC ever.

Man you have no imagination. Think out of the box.

Imagine a larger screen that is at a tilt, like an architects table. You're not looking down but at a variable tilted display your hands and head angle are fully comfortable with.

Plus, Win8 has a setting to turn off the Metro UI and there is no mandatory need to use a touch screen. So in reality you get exactly want you say you want. :P

Well, not that, but you can use the traditional desktop like you normally would. The start screen is there to replace the start menu though, so there's no way around it.

I am loving Windows 8 though, and I'm definitely getting me an ultrabook that I can flip between a laptop and a tablet!

ok, that must of been what I saw. I thought it was permanent option like how all Windows have a way to go to "classic" views. Point is still the same though as you can just as easily use kb/ms. However, I know I'd rather have a larger tablet style screen at an angle in front of me than kb/ms.
