Now I'm just wondering if the image quality is any good though. Reminds me of that Nokia that had a 12 mp camera but the image quality was terrible!

Are you talking about the N8? If so, you have no clue what you're talking about. Its the best camera on a phone to this day...

No concert will ever be safe again.

I wonder how large a 41 megapixel RAW file is...

Actually, if you knew about cameras, you would know that mega pixels alone do not mean squat without a proper lense, and may other pieces of technology put into it. I suggest reading an article written by Jean Boisvert on camera mega pixels. He goes into some depth about mega pixels being the highlight of MARKETING of phones camera capabilities but engineers disagreeing with the marketing schemes because the Mega Pixel alone doesn't count for shit. Look up more on cameras. Mega Pixels has a lot to do with making a picture clearer, however, with out a LARGE lense (technology on lenses is getting smaller and better now though, but still early stages), and other factors, the image quality won't be as good as other cameras at lower mega pixels.

If you want an example, there have been Nokia phones that had cameras at 5 MP many years before Iphone, samsung, etc., but the image quality was not nearly as good. Oh and let's not forget the resolution. Many many factors play into how good a camera is on any device.

This is some of the stuff that my professor has said during my consumer behavior class a few years back, so I'm taking his word for it. Heck we had a case about it too. Mega Pixel does not automatically equal HIGH QUALITY pictures.

Actually I know quite a lot about cameras and lense and own a 1000 dollar SLR.

Nokia N8 has 12 MP and the best optics in a cell phone including a hand made carl zeiss lens. This is what makes it the best smartphone camera to date. Not just the megapixels alone...

And let's not forget bigger than average sensor size which helps in low light conditions and keeps pixel density at sane levels.

I hope they price drop N8 once this one is released :D

Sadly I don't think I can't go back to symbian. My stints with E63 and E73 were great in 2008 and 2009...but it was never love at first sight experience like with iPhone or Windows Phone.

I'm more excited of the prospect of this 41 megapixel camera making it to Windows Phone by years end. Nokia World this year should be fun... :)

My Phone only has 8 MP. Enugh to watch em on a 1080p 32" screen.

I am quite the tech-whore, but if this really means 5 times the pixeldensity of todays standart, i wonder if we even need this, other than for stalking and voyeurism.

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

Ars Technica has a review of the product here:

Short version:

The oversampling results in much sharper images and a digital zoom that isn't completely useless. The tradeoff is that image quality drops hard as noise ramps up in low-light conditions.

i just wish they'd posted some comparison shots with other smartphone cameras so we can see the practical difference between cameras.
