Yes, Wii success was a big surprise to most people, but that's old news now.

It just proves again that at best, analysts are barely just as good as predicting these things as the average person around here. I still don't understand how these guys get paid to spout this nonsense.

Don't let current numbers fool you. Industry professionals know how it will end.

no one predicited wii would be this big of a success

tag:"reviews only matter for the real hardcore gamer"

I still don't get why everyone counted Nintendo out b4 the generation even started, despite the sort of flop of the 64/GC, Nintendo does know a thing or two about gaming, so counting them out just seemed silly.

These analysts and industry professionals initial predictions are so far off that the Wii has already passed their lifetime sales whilst the PS3 and XBox 360 are selling dramatically slower than the pace they predicted.

IDC - the only prediction that has the wii coming in first place. xD

This is a very stupid prediction because they made it using only the trends of predecessor console ( PS2, Xbox , Gamecube ).

In mid 2005 nobody knew Revolution's business model or PS3 launch price point ( 600 $ ) etc. so it was useless to do a prediction at that time. Silly, silly , very silly.
