Forums - Sony Discussion - Bought Dual Shock 3 today

I love the feel of the DS3, however I think my controller might be a little trippy. During COD4 my left joystick isnt responsive sometimes. It was working well at first, even better than the sixaxis, but for some reason it stopped working.

For example:
When I try and sprint in COD4 with the left joystick (i changed my controller layout, dont konw if its different for other people) my character will jump out of sprint almost immediately, like im pressing the button twice.

It has never happened before or after with my other controllers. I might call play-asia but I dont know if they will exchange a used controller. I threw away the original packaging as well.

I actually found my DS3 to be a bit more responsive then the regualr six axis's that I have. I haven't run into any issues and I've used it a ton with COD4 and AC and Uncharted.

My pokemon brings all the nerds to the yard. And they're like, "You wanna trade cards?" Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I'll trade this, but not my charizard.

On my quest to try out a Wii today, I saw a Dual Shock 3 being sold in the local toy store. Seeing that there's no Wii around to keep me busy, I took the plunge and bought the Dual Shock 3.

I came home and tried it on the first game that I know supports it: Uncharted. First impressions: Wow, this is definitely something Sony did right on the PS3.

I'll test it further later and post more impressions here.

Pray tell, what did they do right? Launch it a year and a half late?

I was mildly excited about the DualShock3 until Immersion openly questioned why Sony used their old rumble tech as opposed to the new tech they launched a year or two ago.

Same ol', same ol'.

They probably made it the same so as not to get complaints from the people that buy it saying things like 'its not the rumble we are used to' or something negative like that!

You have to remember its 'cool' to diss Sony these days :P

If they would have just launched with rumble to begin with, people would have nothing to bitch about.

Immersion sued Sony.

Then King Douche Kutaragi said that rumble was "last gen".

Then Sony started talking about the DS3 controller.

Then Immersion mentioned that Sony didn't even bother using their new tech, which is actually cheaper to produce.

...

There's a lot to diss Sony about there. The entire controller fiasco for the PS3 (Remember the boomerang? Then we get a rehashed 10 year old controller in its place.) has done nothing except screw over the end user. I'll give any company props for doing something right but anyone who says the DS3 controller is Sony doing something "right" hasn't been paying much attention for the past two years.

I could get an import but not wanting to risk it... :P

I've got it an it works fine, i got it from here,

I can't comment about delivery times, as when I order it, it was short in supply, although it took just over a week to the UK. I am pretty certain the price advertised is the one that you pay, although I am not 100% on that.

Personally, it is a good investment, cause I only paid £5-10 extra, and I got to play through Uncharted with it, much enhansing the experience

Nice job dude! I can't wait for DS3 to come over to Canada. I'll probably buy 2. Then I'll have a pair of Sixaxes and a pair of Dualshocks.

You just gave me a great idea! I just remembered that they have a small game store in Baton Rouge that usually has loads of imported stuff from Japan (multicolored PSPs, game soundtracks for LoZ, FF, DMC, etc.). I'm definitely gonna stop by next time i'm in BR to see if they have any DS3s.

Actually, I just had another great idea. I just checked ebay, and they have loads of DS3s up for sale/auction.

@ Rocket

I think people that moan about the design of the controller are a bit silly, why change a design that has been greatly accepted from the very first Playstation! I wasn't fond of the look of the boomerang controller, neither were a lot of people, so Sony changed it back to the old design and it has been very well accepted.

The whole thing about not having rumble is a bit of a pain but tbh i do not miss it, hence why i have not gone out of my way to obtain a DS3 via importing! I will pick one up on release here in the UK but only as i need an extra controller and might as well get one!

It does seem that you have nothing positive to say about Sony at all...
