What you should be asking is, why are they not putting the Prothean squad member/mission on the disc and why is it launch DLC. BioWare and EA really suck balls.

It's been confirmed that the Prothean isn't a squad member, they are an unlockable NPC. Still lame but not that big a deal.

Where did you read that? On the social bioware forum, michael gamble of Bioware confirmed that it was indeed a squad member: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9403705/1

Right you are. And Casey Hudson tweeted a picture of it shooting fools, too...

Edit: Also man, the BioWare forums are insane. I feel more and more justified in sticking to the strategy forums.

That's ridiculous. The male Shepard is the one used by most people, the default, and the main character. He has ALWAYS been featured in the advertising more than FemShep. And you may feel that FemShep suits the situation better, but from personal experience, most people disagree with you on that one.

The launch DLC is another matter entirely. I disapprove of that.

BioWare released statistics last year that showed that somewhere between 75-80% of all internet-connection ME2 players roll up the bog standard default male Shepard Soldier. Reported reasons for doing this vary from person to person ("It's how the game was meant to be played" is possibly the most egregious), but BioWare placing alternative focuses in advertising was one of their stated goals, which is why we got the FemShep trailer. Why it wasn't made more public is a bit beyond me.

Wait

Kantor

Do you play a Sheploo Soldier?

I think I'm going to be sick.

You think I would play a soldier?

I was a Vanguard in ME1, and an Adept and then a Sentinel in ME2.

I gotta check, man. 80% of all players roll Soldier. I just, I gotta check.

This is one of the things I like best about the multiplayer mode - Soldier is easily and obviously the least fun class, which may (which is to say, it actually does) strong-arm people into trying new classes and character builds.

He did? Can't find his tweet with that.

I usually don't go to the Bioware forums, not after DA:O came out and the forums went to shit with PC vs Console wars.

He deleted it! Interesting. I'm sure you can still find the picture floating around but the tweet he made is gone.

The BioWare forums are like almsot all forums: complete and utter nightmares. I liked the ME2 strategy forums, though, those guys were nice and concerned primairly with game mechanics so fanboyism didn't enter into it as much. Hopefully the ME3 equivalents will be as good.

I have to disagree with you on that I think the least fun MP class is Biotic, I prefer Combat engineer and Soldier.

And the best class for the main campaign is Soldier, I think thats why most of the people prefer that class

Every single class has more options than Soldier when it comes to approaching situations. Soldiers have one thing going for them in ME3: gun loadout. In ME2 they had Adrenaline Rush, which only served to accentuate their gun loadouts.

As ever, if you want to try out a class that's high-octane and a lot of fun, try Vanguard. There's a reason so many Soldiers are trying it out in multi: it is awesome.

And the best class for campaign in ME2 is arguable, but if I had to pick one based on the "You will almost definitely win" factor, it would probably be Sentinel before Soldier, since they are essentially unkillable even on Insanity

I'll look around for it then

Yeah, I usually tend to stay away from specific game forums and join only general forums which usually are much calmer. I didn't went too much into the ME2 strategy forums, only to check into some strategies for Infiltrators builds for Insanity.
