I wonder why the tax is so high? 13%, that's crazy high! I remember NYC having a pretty high tax when I visited there years ago.

CA tax varies by county but I'm pretty sure the highest rates are in the 8-9% range, generally being higher in the big cities (LA, SF). My county wasn't too bad in the 7.25 or 7.5 range I believe though it might've changed since I've been gone. Nothing close to 13% though.

As far as I remember, we used to have 15% sales tax. It was eventually drop to 14 and then 13.

Move (populated) provinces in Canada have 13% sales tax now.

Our friends in Sweden and Norway pay 25% as far as I know...

Oh, it's in Canada! That's why! I saw the mention about NOA being based in California and that's where I thought the tax rate would derive from, my mistake. ;-p

Yikes! Then again that does go towards a lot of social services, does it not?

I guess so.

I have to pay 8% tax on everything up here in NY. If I buy it off of the internet, PSN, eShop, or anything else.

Nothing new for me.

Strange, I live in Suffolk County, Long Island NY and when I bought Plants Vs Zombies off the Vita PSN last night I only had to pay $14.99, no tax.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I pay like 6.5% here in illinois. Luckily that is lower than the 9% state tax we have. I had to pay tax on psn too but recently I have had no tax. They must have moved an office out of my state or something. Lots of companies have been leaving my state recently.

The tax in Greece is as high but with less social services, though that's due to other reasons...

Heh so it can be done. Put this will probally work until they update the system.

I doubt that they will remove it by a system update. It should be legal to move from one state to another and of course you must pay the taxes of the state where you moved to. There is no GPS in the 3DS so there is no way that the 3DS can tell which tax he should choose. I think it will be kind of funny if most 3DS owners in the USA live in "Alaska" to save tax.

However tax fraud is a crime and every 3DS owner must choose if he want to commit the crime or play by the rules.

They could use some sort of location service in it stead, but it would be a little hard to remove to ablity to mave.
