3DS (first 2 weeks in the market) --- 584,387 units sold.

PS Vita (8 weeks in the market) --- 566,503 units sold.

Can you make the same comparison with DS and PSP?

Yes.

NDS (2 weeks) --- 667,775

PSP (8 weeks) --- 749,854

Can you find me the lowest PSP sales for a week, and what is PS3 8 week total.

The lowest PSP hardware figures in its first 52 weeks in the market were  19,043 (week 33  2005-07-18).

PS3 (8 weeks) --- 457,558

Thanks, so basically it could always be worse (in regards to one of the worse launches the ps3).

The DS LIte was launched, not sure about the exact week in February though.

Also, this is basically the starting point from where Nintendo couldn't keep up with production anymore and everything that got shipped sold out in the same week, so if you look at more 2006 numbers, you'll see more crazy fluctuations.

The 3DS's current sales of around 70k units per week are pitiful in comparison. It would be great for Nintendo if they could get out SMB 3DS by June (without rushing it, of course).

Pokemon Grey would be nice as well... but that seems to still be a year away (going by Platinum's release in relation to Diamond/Pearl). But that game alone brings up a few questions. Should there even be a Pokemon Grey? I would think that Nintendo would want Game Freak to bring out a brand new Pokemon game as soon as possible for the 3DS (which goes back to the whole Black/White releasing on the DS so close to the 3DS' launch. I suppose Nintendo wanted more software sales than more 3DS sales.)

Although if they did release a Pokemon Grey, I would hope that it would be for the 3DS and use its features in a meaningful way (including the superior hardware). Could be the first time since Yellow that I bought a 'Special Edition' of the mainline franchise.

Also, this whole '2D Mario for the 3DS' kinda has me questioning what Nintendo is planning for the Wii U launch. I thought for sure that New Super Mario Bros. Mii was part of something bigger for the Wii U, but now that 3DS is getting a 2D Mario this year... I have my doubts that Wii U will be launching with one too. I doubt Nintendo wants two different 2D Mario's on the shelf at the exact same time. Or do they? O_o

You can compare with XBOX or X360 too... {joker face}

But of course, Nintendo hasn't handled 2D Mario games well since a very long time, so they might not see the obvious and forego launching the Wii U with a Super Mario Bros. game.

Yeah... that's what I'm afraid of.

I mean, I'm assuming that they have Software Development Group 4 working on the next 'Super Mario Bros.', whether it's 3DS or Wii U. Heck, Maybe the group is already finished with the Wii U 'Super Mario Bros.' game. But if not, what other development team could be working on a 2D Mario? Tokyo Development Group 1 (as Group 2 just finished Super Mario 3D Land, so they're pretty much out of the question.)?

Gravity Rush/Daze opened higher than i originally thought it would.
With digital sales it likely exceeded 50k in the first week, thats very good.
and i think it will hold up very well and have good legs because its still high on amazon and it has outstanding user reviews (4 and a half stars almost 5 on amazon, which is verrry much for japanese standarts)

Why are people so obsessed with the Japanese Xbox numbers?

Because in this slow period it and the PS2 are fighting the best battle... the others hardware are just boring.

wow this has to be the worst week the vita has seen since launch and on the week of gravity daze i thought that was a big title. but it seams almost all the big titles got 7.0s-7.5s nintendogs plus cats got a better review at gamespot then uncharted . on top of it it matched wipe out 2409 but ya average sales for everything else except the amazing 3ds getting the market going

Really sad to see those numbers for PSV especially with Gravity doing much better than expected.
