Forums - General Discussion - Greece 'can't take anymore cuts' and Eurozone States 'want Greece out'

You know the Arab empire was pretty powerful as well. And don't forget the Han dynasty.
Anyways, do any of you think Greece may end up starting a war to get themselves out of this crisis?

Greece never should have been loaned all that money, and the euro never should have been started. The austerity is collapsing the economy. -7% GDP in 1 year and aren't able to pay off the debt any better, but you can be sure that some bankers will own all the public assets of Greece unless the Greeks take it into their own hands.

Not sure. Maybe something similar to the Holocaust in shich they signal out a specific group of people. Wars have been proven to bring some countries back into prosperity.

A nation's finances should be run like a household finances. We all need to live within our means. Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, France, UK, US and most countries around the world have huge national debts and growing deficits that may never return to Budget surplus and imports far exceed exports. China and India and other Asian-Pacific nations have trade surpluses, balanced government budgets and live within their means.

Why should we tax Peter to give to Paul? There is no such thing as a free lunch. Nations and its people that are in huge debt will need to endure short term pain for the chance of prosperity and economic growth in the long-term and hope for a brighter future.

The cuts to public service, wage cuts and tax increases will hurt in the short to medium term but the Greek patient needs to take its medicine.

The obvious difference here. You're spending others' money (tax). I don't know about you, but if I could spend unlimited amount of money that's not mine, I sure as hell would spend until I drop.

The politicians and the 'police'.They brought us here and keep making things worse.

Watching the events of the cosmos unfold in tears and solitude

Split the country into parts and sell the parts to neighbours. Problem solved.

I should've added on my post that the whole claim of this thread is silly.

The EU will not abandon Greece. If it did, Italy would collapse aswell and theres no money to rescue a country the size of Italy.

That would only happen is they could prevent the contagion of Italy somehow.

They also cannot afford not to abandon Greece if they cannot fulfill the financial obligations, thats the rub. Greece are doomed whatever happens as I said earlier it is just the level of doomed that matters now.
