I am loving Skyrim right now, but I cant stop comparing it to Oblivion. In fact, I think Oblivion is the only game comparable to Skyrim. I am not saying it is better or worse. But back in the day when I was hooked up with Oblivion I remember reading some people in the Forums complaining about how Morrowind was so much better! And they were not referring to graphics, they meant something else. Of course Skyrim design and graphics are so much better, but I have aquestion for you, if you have played both games:

would you say Skyrim is better than Oblivion in every aspect?

My vote goes to skyrim. Oblivion was one of my favourite games of all time until I played skyrim, cos it was better in every imaginable way and showed how flawed oblivion really was. Both great games though.

skyrim is definitely better. and i think its more comparable to morrowind than oblivion was.

In the end Skyrim wins it for me, although not by much.
Biggest pros for Skyrim are the landscape and the main quest. Oblivion's main quest was simply bad. Skyrim dungeons take a little longer to get repetitive but still they do, too soon.

Cities were better in Oblivion. They felt bigger, more unique and you have the huge Imperial city in the center with lots of things to do including the Arena challenges. The cities in Skyrim have 1 shop of each kind at most and most villages don't even have more then 5 buildings. There are more guards then inhabitants in each stronghold.

I preferred the thief and assassins guild quest lines in Oblivion. Mage quest line is better in Skyrim. Both have there equal share of unique extra quests although the Oblivion quest where you go inside the painting is unmatched. Skyrim wins it in sheer number of quests, although the percentage of go here and get or kill x quests is too high imo.

I spent over 100 hours on each game before getting bored, both are very good. Apart from the graphics and more content in Skyrim I don't really see all that much difference between the 2.

Level scaling killed Oblivion for me... And they both fail bad in front of the Godly Morrowind.

Skyrim is a fantastic game but Oblivion is clearly better and still stands as the best game ever created by mankind.

Oblivion has better character creation, better difficulty and balance, better interface, better quests, better main story, better skills, better magic, better alchemy, better mini-games, better atmosphere, better world and landscapes, better cities and architecture, better items, better armor design, better music and better sounds than Skyrim.

Not everything is better in Skyrim (some missing features hurt) but overall it's definitely an improvement.

I like morrowind and oblivion better. Morrowind the best. I thought the lore/story/being able to levitate everywhere, and be overpowered was more fun in morrowind.

The interface in skyrim on PC,is just aweful compared to its predecessors. They have some mods to fix it somewhat though.

The dungeon design, terrain, graphics and animations are better though in skyrim. Combat, maybe a bit.

With skyrim They've just iterated everything, except for this time it's not pushing the PC platform. Improving some things, and making some things worse, but it's technically the 4th time for me daggerfall, morrowind, oblivion, and skyrim. So the luster of massive open world wacking monsters lost some luster. If the story's were more unique, or atleast had better character development like a lot of other RPG's, as in characters I cared about whether I just shot a fireball or not, I'd be more forgiving of certain shortcomings in the gameplay.

Skyrim a good game though I'd rate an 8 or 8.5 (my average on here is a 6.9) , and has a great meme!

Skyrim is better but not for everything. Many of the quests in Oblivion I believe we better - the Thieves Guild quest in Oblivion for example, or the Dark Brotherhood quest.

In Skyrim I found most quests - perhaps inevitably - seemed to be either variations on Oblivion and previous games. In addition they often seemed shorter and less involving.

I also felt that Skyrim was missing at least one truly larger city. Playing on PC (with access to a console copy) I feel the issue was pushing the graphics while remaining playable on PS3/360. It's clear to me, given how the game is actually pretty undemanding on PC, that it could easily have more on-screen activity in terms of people and therefore support a large city quite well - but this hasn't be exploited. Maybe a mod will fix this.

In a similar vein, while I liked Skyrim being a much more consistent place in terms of geography, I felt it was missing a few quests/areas that really mixed things up - something like the Shivering Isles in Oblivion. Again though mods (and no doubt DLC at some point) will probably fix this.

It's a pity because Skyrim is better in every other way and overall I'd still put it ahead of Oblivion/

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Im glad to hear there still are people who appreciate my favorite game of all time.
