PS3 and Wii for me. The only ones on 360 I like are ToV and LO. If my Japanese was better, I wouldn't consider ToV an exclusive though. Alan Wake was on that list, but I guess it's headed to PC. MS has done a good job convincing me that I don't need their next gen console. They seem to be out of the jRPG market for good.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Wii is where it is (30m above the Ps3) only and only because of its exclusive titles, it's a fact, not an opinion

The Wii hit massive numbers because of casuals, not exclusives. Their exclusives sold well but nowhere near the attach rate of Wii Fit and the like.

WII FIT WAS AN EXCLUSIVE.

GOODNIGHT!

I know its exclusive but it was a reason for sales with the casuals bundled with the Wii.

wii, of course, has the best exclusives. dont get me wrong, ps3 has a bunch.. but they just arent very good. infamous 2 and little big planet 2 are just let downs. and the only good exclusives the ps3 has that doesnt try to copy something nintendo has (little big planet, mod nation racers, 3d dot game heroes) are uncharted and god of war. i would count heavy rain and mgs4 but those are more like movies.

anyways, im sure i missed some good ps3 exclusives, but even if i remembered them, it would not make a difference because nintendo owns.

even if you look at downloadable games, nintendo has that on lock. a link to the past and super metroid alone destroy anything that could be downloaded on either the ps3 or 360. not to mention chrono trigger, mega mans, zeldas, marios, dkcs, the list just goes on and on.

no matter which way you slice it, nintendo just has the best exclusives for it. there is no argument here.

LBP and MNR are just a platformer and a kart racer, not every kart racer is a copy of Mario Kart and definitely not every platformer is a copy of Mario.  That's just ridiculous.  And 3DDGH is actually a Zelda copy, but it's something the Wii doesn't even have, a new Zelda made in the 2D style.

BTW looking at downloadable games and saying Nintendo has it on lock is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.  A bunch of old ports are not Wii exclusives, that's just a stupid statement.  It boggles my mind that NIntendo is just tossing a bunch of old games on their new console instead of trying to make or get new fantastic games for WW, and not only are you satisfied with that, you're actually elated.  It's insane.

So yeah, there's an argument to be had with reasonable people willing to try to look at things from other people's points of view, just not with you.

yeah, he's pretty frustrating to discuss stuff with, no argument there.  Then again I can be a pain, too.

I personally think that all three systems are close to equal, where Wii has a lot of platform and minigame compilation games, Xbox has a lot of shooters and racers, and PS3 has...a bit of everything.

Does the WIi really have that much more than the others?? I have heard this, but if you factor in the LIVE/PSN I think there all about even. Braid, Limbo, Rocket Knight, Splosion man, Sideway NY, etc. Im not quite convinced that the Wii has that much more platformers

yeah, once EVERYTHING is factored in they're all pretty close.  I have to reevaluate the downloads because that will take a while, but I'm fairly certain the Wii still barely comes out on top.

It is no longer close and hasn't been close in two years. Sony is battering Microsoft with exclusives and selling consoles and Microsoft is running to the casuals.

Wii = best exclusives

360 = best games

So exclusives aren't games?

Casuals buy the exclusives. And Wii Fit is exclusive.

MIND = BLOWN!

There are plenty of exclusives on the Wii that havent sold (The majority of the Wii's games). The Wii sold massive numbers because of the casuals. Stop trying to point out the obvious to me. Its over now and the casuals have moved onto the next novelty in the Kinect.

Pay attention to when I say attach rate. Need I say bundled for you in an easier manner?

Indeed, the Wii sold massive numbers because of casuals. But what did casuals buy? Exclusives.

I'm not sure if your last sentence is relevant.

You mean like Gamecube?

At some point this sales=quality notion needs to die.

The success of a system depends on a whole lot of things. Innovation / lowest price / best exclusives / time of release /marketing/hype etc. Anything alone is not enough. It's all or most of these things put together.

Here's the reasons I bought a wii in 2008.

1)The ps3 was bloody expensive, I didn't have much money and due to bad press I was under the impression that Sony were making a huge profit on each console because they were greedy.

2)The hype of Wii Sports was insane. I played the game for a few months (though spent about 30 hours in total) and was quite bored after that

3)I wanted to play WiiFit to lose wait. I played it for about 20 hours and was hugely disappointed. I had tons of fun playing Naruto (wii) though (my first Naruto game on an next generation  console).

I also bought Super Mario Galaxy due to hype and because the Wii offered no other games that interested me. I played it for a few hours, but didn't enjoy it that much (nevertheless, I think it's a 9,5/10 game, just not for me).

I bought a ps3 in 2009 and have about 130 games vs 8 wii games (though I have no doubt that there are tons of wii games that I never got to play that are brilliant)

This is not a Wii Sucks post. I'm just trying to show that the success of a game or console can depend on many reasons, quality might be one of them, but definitely not the only, and for everyone.

there's not a single thing on earth that likes to everyone, if that was the case Wii would have sold 150m +, the thing is what likes to most people, and in this case, the sales of Wii exclusives speak by themselves, this site is all about sales, and therefore the answer to the thread title but of course the point is that everyone tells his/her opinion

it depends on many things, but  Nintendo games in this case is the main reason Wii succeed, people got it because it was cheap, in order to play Nintendo games which they heard from others are awesome and that's why many Nintendo Wii's games had the legs of 20m

sales mean a higher chance to be quality in someone's eyes actually

like Rol said, consumers vote with their wallets, same for music and movies, now if VGC members like PS3 exclusives the most, nothing wrong with that, i like them too, just not as much as the Wii exclusives

I don't think it's the main reason. In my opinion, had Sony not screwed up with the ps3 (extremely high price due to cpu/blu-ray, launched after wii, no gamezz), most ps2 users would have bought a ps3 instead. The Wii gained momentum and became the cool console to own.

If so many people cared about Mario, Zelda etc, why didn't just as many people buy a gamecube or a n64.

This. The Wii is a novelty (with some great games thrown in the mix) and so is the Kinect (not so much on the games). People must've not been paying attention when media announced Nintendo finally broke the  casual market and expanded the audience. Microsoft are after that casual market now. If the Wii was as core of console as the Gamecube was and lacking as much third party support as it could've had it would've never seen the sale it rests on. I am happy for Nintendos sales success. The GC didnt even make it to 40 million consoles I believe. I loved it anyway.
