Forums - Sales Discussion - Has FFXIII-2 Bombed Worldwide? Where Will The Series Go From Here?

Has FFXIII-2 Bombed Worldwide?

Yes, especially in Japan 73 26.45%

Yes, especially in the West 34 12.32%

No, the sales are great 169 61.23%

Total:276

There are differing opinions on the sales of FFXIII-2, many people have written it off as a bomb while some are surprised its done anything at all considering the controversy its predecessor created; but with sales we have hard numbers in front of us and past milestones to compare to.

FFXIII-2's sales currently don't even match FFX-2's week 1 sales in Japan. Going forward the game will see massive drops in sales and I don't see it going much over 2 Million LTD; adding in Xbox 360 which shouldn't see past 500K we are seeing XIII-2 barely make more than X-2 made in Japan alone.

Now I personally feel the American sales are massively overtracked for PS3 anyway, so the sales are even lower in reality (NPD has proven VGchartz overtracked last month too).

The real "Final" Fantasy may not be that far away if the series continues on this course.

Game sold about one million first week in the west and you call it a bomb? what!?Of course it could be overtracked but there is no evidence for this yet so this thread really is premature. In Japan it bombed yes but with the data available it did fine in west.

Stop making the series some western-wannabe game.
Also, trying going back to your roots for once, you know, there's a reason old Final Fantasy was so popular, go back to active time battle.

There is proof of overtracking, January NPD was overtracked, if the same methodology was used for the week after then surely that week was overtracked too?

And did you not see the X-2 comparison, XIII-2 after launching in each region hasn't even touched X-2's week 1 sales.

considering they probably spent a lot less making FFXIII-2 then making FFXIII I'd say Squeenix will make some good money with it, maybe not as much as they hoped though

Game bomb if doesn't make a money.

FFXIII-2 sold about 1.8 millions, IMO money are already back.

So no bombing.

For some haters, this game bomb even at 10 millions because they don't like it.

ATB is still present in FFXIII / FXIII-2

OT: I don't see how it bombed. Its going to get anywhere between 2-5 million when its all said and done. Thats a money maker for a game of this kind.

The fact is final fantasy the series itself has sold less then its days on the PS1. This game is on track for doing just as well, as the only other comparable FF titles, as FFX-2 and we could probably throw in Dirge of Cerebus. Yes it is not doing as well  in Japan, but it seems it is appealing more to the West.

The series itself, just like every new title, will continue to change and evolve into new directions until they find the mass appeal.
