I thought I'd create this thread for those of us playing Skyrim on PC so we can share some of our favourites Steamworks mods with each other and discuss them.
Simply, just post any interesting Steamworks mods that you've found and are using (or are currently subscribed to and waiting for a release) and check out what others are using to enhance their experience.
5. Realistic Lighting - Changes the tones of lighting to make the world appear crisper and more uniformly lit than the stock game. There is a video showcasing day/night cycles of a few environments on the mod page. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=7648
7. The Golem - This project aims to bring a new creature type to the game in the form of a giant golem that will be capable of single handedly devastating an entire town. Nothing is released yet but I'm interested in seeing where it goes. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=7949
I was hoping to keep this thread to Steamworks but it might actually be beneficial to keep it more open just for the sake of more discussion. Putting this thread in the PC Discussion doesn't do it much of a favor.
I like that one. I might try to install it so I can make some scenic vids to Skyrim covers by Malukah.
Slimebeast said: I wish there were mods that would change the game to be more like Oblivion. I think there's a few in the works but not many released so far.
In truth, I miss the ridiculous athletics and acrobatics skills more than I should.
If I come across any mods that make it more like Oblivion I'll try to remember to let you know.
Midas Magic: This is one of the mods used in the "Great Battle of Skyrim" machinima video I posted earlier. Adds 60+ new spell types, like projectile attacks, beam, spray and a lot more.
I'm starting to look for some more gameplay mods now that I have played a lot of vinila, I also have a few smaller tweaks and fixes but they aren't worth posting IMO, I'm also using House Map Markers lol
So since mods have now been out for a while and a whole slew of mods have been created since the last post in this thread, I figure it was time to revitalize it. I've spent some time diving into a bunch of different mods and I'll eventually post them all here but for now I thought I'd share a series of videos that Gamespot puts out weekly featuring some really neat (and some really unusual) mods. I've added links to the actual pages where they provide names and links for the mods they feature.
38 of them. I had to pry myself away from the Workshop so I could actually try the game out!
Some of my favourites:
Alternate Start is a godsend. It allows you to skip the whole tedious Helgen sequence with the long conversations and death row and confusing hiking through ruins, and start pretty much wherever you like. I chose to start as a soldier in the Stormcloak's army, and I spawned in Windhelm. It's easy enough to do the main quest: you just go to Helgen, kill one guy, pick up a diary and head to Whiterun to continue.
And a fun one: Divine Punishment for mention of arrows in the knee simply causes any guard who says that awful line to be struck by lightning and killed.
