Then there are consumer expectations, people dont pay premium for SD graphics they expect better, graphics standard is set at certain level for each console. For a game that target a very small base to have the cost of HD make over is absolutely invalid for any logical bussiness strategy.

Let say you buy and play SSBB which it clear to me everyone says they don't care about graphics then compares and talk about SSBB graphics. ( I agree they look good) Let say during the game you get a very close up look at Mario and say "Wow, look at the details and amazing graphics." The cost of the 3D model of is the same rather SD or HD because you can use the exact same models. Yet 95% of the game you will not see Mario this close to see all those nice details. But when you use this exact same model in HD even though you won't see any more details in a close-up of Mario you will see these amazing details farther in the distance.

With most PC games you can change the resolution to match your monitor native resolution but uses the same 3d models. Again you can see greater details at greater distances but this requires the GPU to work harder. The more detailed goes into the 3d models the more it will cost. Of course with HD an artist can put even more details in close-ups if desired and thus cost more.

Yes thats exactly one of the reason of a higher cost of HD games, inorder for it to shine you need to put alot more details in there than SD games, and the new HD hardware give more advance instructions producing eye candy graphic and that is what really seperate the advanced hardware to the low end console.

even if you blow up SSBB to a higher resolution it still cant compete with HD console games that built from the ground up taking advantage of all those new eye candy instructions.

Also part 4 being panned as the worst game in the series likely hurt 5's sales.

yeah, 4 lost suikoden a lot of fans.

offtopic: I wonder what happened to the breathe of fire series..
i remember playing the 3rd one and it was good.

Heh. Interestingly enough, part 4 came out and it was also considered quite poor.

naznatips, I'd reccommend Suikoden V, a bit of a slow start for some, but I believe it's easily the best of the PS2 Suikoden games. :)

Probably avoid IV and Tactics though, they're considered quite disappointing to most. 4 was my first, and my odd taste allowed me to enjoy it enough to give the other games a chance. Didn't care for 3 myself, but didn't play 2 or 1 either.

Btw, I personally rate Suikoden V the 2nd best jrpg of "last gen", behind Skies of Arcadia and just ahead of Tales of Symphonia (although I'm currently playing Tales of the Abyss and still gotta get Xenosaga III, so my list is still incomplete).

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

This series makes sense for the Wii because it never graphically stood out to me.  I love collecting so many people for a castle (only played 1 and 2, however).  I have 3...maybe I should get to that...

@WoW
Read it clearly I stated Min.
there is no way HD game have a lower Min than SD games.
as for Max, sky is the limit for any game

You don't get it. PS3 games don't have to be HD/super expensive. Stupid blinders...

WoW, you're right, but why make it on the PS3 if you're not going to use HD graphics?

The game will sell best in Japan, so that rules out the 360. Then you choose between PS3 or Wii. Wii has about 3x install base so if you're not going to use HD graphics, Wii will be the obvious choice.

Square wants to do FF on PS3 because they want it to have the most gorgeous visuals they can produce.

If they don't exploit the Graphics of the PS3, why in Allahs name would they put in on it? The installed base is less than half of the Wiis....it would make no sense at all to put it on PS3, if it isn't to take advantage of the power.

I'm not talking about upscaling SSBB as the more you blow up something to fit a higher resolution the worst it looks especially in games. Also this does the opposide effect of anti-aliasing, hello to jagged edges. The exact same 3d models would looked better in HD if the Wii could run them in HD. Thus even average looking games ( I would say even SSBB is above average) looks better in HD.

Now you understand why I am disappoint that Nintendo didn't give Wii a little more juice to at least run their games in 720p. Even if the made the cost around $300 the Wii would have still sold like hotcakes. Now you may think that HD is no big deal now but just look how much LCDs have taken over the market of both TV and PC monitors during PS2 life span.

" it would make no sense at all to put it on PS3, if it isn't to take advantage of the power."

I say that would fit almost all the games for the PS3 right now.

Im gonna agree with WoW on this one. Not all ps3 games need to be HD or Expensive eventhough like 90% of developers will go for that. Look at disgaea 3, its has nothing that wii couldn't do but its a ps3 exclusive. Way of the Samurai in the future will be the same thing. It will have shitty graphics and will not have anything the wii couldn't do but it will still be on the ps3.

btw this is tk1797 but for some reason i can't log on to my other account.

But Nippion ichi has always be tied to SCE ( I mean they released games for PSP and not for jaggurnaut DS, it's obvious they have a close relationship with SCE ).

PS3 can dispaly a "Pong graphic" games or a "huge development cost" games obviously, but PS3 business model encouraged "graphic state of art" ( hey PS3 is the king of cinematic console ).

PS3 doesn't have the fast growning install base of Wii ( and PS2 sales are declining due to physiologic motive ) so niche games and minor games are lured by Wii.

Just my 2 cents.

What Bod don't consider in his question is PSN, XBLA and Wiiware though for not "plug and play" games like JRPG this service aren't very suitable.

You are linking to a thread a neogaf. Are you really that surprised to see that?

I think people will be disappointed. It would make to much sense.
