Forums - PC Discussion - Completed my 1st Build

So pumped, it was not without issue, I had to RMA my Corsair TX750 back to tigerdirect, Overnighted a replacement TX750M to replace it.

I have a 7.7, 7.8, 7.9, 7.9, 7.9 WE rating. I have not fully oc'd the CPU or ram (the 7.7 and 7.8) because everything is working fine now stability wise.

Componants:

CPU: Intel I5 2500k OC'd to 4.6 for now, may go to 4.8. Love it, at $220 best price/performance ratio around

CPU Cooler: Coolermaster 520, its very good, like I said OC'd to 4.8 it is very cool.

RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengance at 1600mhz, good stuff, MOBO read them 1st time no issue

PSU: Corsair TX750M

MOBO: ASUS P8P67 PRO, awsome board, OC's like a dream, issue is it has a few bugs that are easy to work around, but nasty if you dont. In my case I had to set the power setting so it never hibernates, it will not always wake up from sleep mode, and if it does not, you have to remove the batt on the MOBO and reset BIOS. I would give it 5/5 for performance, and a 2 or 3 for stability because of that. I have read that the Deluxe version of the board does not have these issues it is 40 bucks, more It is more than worth it.

GPU: AMD Radeon 6950 2GB (GFX), great card works just fine, can run anything currently out on ultra, have not tried BF3, may only do that on high. But I got skyrim on Ultra with like 4-5 texture mods and it was good.

MISC: Keyboard: MS Sidewinder X4, b/g/n PCI Wireles card, 22inch LG LED Monitor

Well, I am happy with my 1st build although I did shit my pants after it would not recover from hibernate mode that 1st time. lol....

Nice build, and nice OC you got there!

Have you OCed your 6950? Or flash the bios make it a 6970?

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

nice little beast you got there

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

Indeed, nice build you got there. How much did it cost, to get all the parts needed and stuff? About 1 grand?

CPU- 220
MOBO- 160
RAM- 100
PSU- 110
GPU- 260
b/g/n Wireless PCI- 30
SSD- 100
2TB HDD- 120
2 DVDROM-50
Case- 90
CPU Cooler/Case Fans/Thermal Paste- 70
WIndows 7 Home Premium 64bit-100

so about 1450 or so for the core elements

then add another 400 for Gaming keyboard, monitor, speakers, and total shipping.

All said I spent 1750-to 1900 on everything, but about 1/2 of that is reusable in next build a few years from now (Case, PSU(If it still works), Cooler, fans, monitor, etc)

Nice build! However, I wouldn't give the WE much weight, especially where games are concerned.

My WE is less than yours (in RAM and CPU, but especially in hard drive performance) but I'm quite sure my rig would outperform yours in games by virtue of having two 6950s in crossfire plus a 440GT for Physx - once the game loads, of course!

Still, congrats on the build, and happy gaming!

Overclocking always sounded like a fun hobby but I could never seriously bother with it and I doubt it's worth it economically either.

I plan to get a similar PC but without the OC ability and save $200.

Should handle BF3 on ultra with low AA settings. Nice build though.

Nice build, I was planning on making myself a nice PC this summer, but I don't think I will get something that good

I already have a decent laptop, but with an average graphics card holding everything back
