It's hard to say. This isn't the same market as it was about 7 years ago when the psp was introduced. Although I think the PS Vita is an amazing gaming device, I think it will in the end barely survive. The PSP sold a great amount over its run but nowadays you hardly see anyone using a psp. Who knows, maybe the PS Vita will gain steam. We shall wait and see.

You're right! We've all been fooled by Nintendo's monopoly on the Wiimote's memory!

They brought in the demo units a few weeks before launch too.

What's Sony doing? I know they have demo units out for Gamestop and Best Buy, but for the love of god, why just one commerical about the Taco Bell promotion? Please release more commericals that are a lot more informative.

Nintendo is about to air two new ads next week, each featuring online play and the new Pink 3DS as well as showcasing games such as Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, and Resident Evil Revelations. Star Fox 64 3D and Tekken 3D are shown at the end of the ads.

Sony needs to put it in gear.

I saw the Resident Evil Revelations ad, and was pleasantly surprised! Nintendo certairnly seem to want to strengthen their ties with Capcom again, and take support from the Vita and other consoles. This is a very good idea IMO.

I don't know whether I should be surprised by the poll results.

It was DOA in Japan, but that is because it needs a system seller, wait for a portable, high profile JRPG and a Monster Hunter game and it will sell like crazy.

As for the West, I definitely don't think it will be DOA. The lack of advertising will hurt sales, but I definitely see it being successful in the long run, almost all of my friends are planning to get one, even the hardcore Xbox 360 fanboys.

I think it'll do alright. Like, I expect it to outsell PSP's first year (Which launched at $250 right? Higher price due to inflation too...), which can only be a success for the Vita. Like the PSP though I think the real challenge is where it goes from there, PSP soon stuttered once the DSlite hit and the software dried up for the PS3 launch - Sony needs to keep the Vita relevent for it's whole life.

The price is an obstacle but I think the PSP had a decent first year of sales at that price so clearly it's an obstacle Sony can over come. If it can't at least match the PSP then the price needs cutting but I think it should be okay - my memory is cloudy of back then though. The Vita definitely has a much stronger launch lineup then the PSP, albeit maybe the PSP had a GTA and Need for Speed by the end of the year.

I can't see it ever outselling the 3DS but that doesn't really matter all that much imo. I'm sure Sony would like too and stuff but in reality they just need to create a handheld that sells like the PSP but actually sells software too.

Surely the same could be said in the West? Aside from for different games, of course. But we have to wait for them, that's the key word. Until then, just like the 3DS was, the Vita will be dead or dying. We have to base our predictions on facts, not something that will happen 'when there's a price cut', or 'when X and Y have released'.

So it's pretty much set and done? More people think that the Vita will be dead on arrival?
