You forgot the 0,000000000001% probability (because the zero risk doesn't exist, I'm afraid). No seriously the question is : can you expect there will be any audience for GTAV on WiiU? Just to remind you that Crystal Dynamics excluded a WiiU Tomb Raider although Underworld was ported to Wii (because they thought there could be a market). This is not about power, it's about the audience you address to.

Who knows what demographic you can expect on the Wii U? These things don't always stay consistent from generation to generation. For example, the PS2 was the console of the masses as well as gamers, and yet the PS3 is nowhere close to having the same wide demographic today. The only thing for certain is that Nintendo fans will buy it. We'll have to wait and see who else does, and that would be shaped on games like this turning up or not.

The good games have to be there for the audience to be there, as well.

I suppose it's the chicken and the egg situation; some devs will be scared because they put bad games on Wii and when they didn't sell well, they blamed it on the console and its audience. It's my opinion that Wii could have attracted a more core audience if the good third party games were there. But the truth is those games went to the 360 and PS3 early on and so did the audiences.

This is a very valid point! Take heed!

Yup, there is not much of an audience for bad and watered down ports on Nintendo platforms. Although I do think that this topic is about an equal version of GTA V on the Wii U, so his post completely misses the point.

But I guess Wii U SHOULD be a place for watered down ports - just like the PS360! Except for graphics, the Wii suffered from a lack of 3rd party support, so to get GTAV would be a big boost for the Wii U. But it's like you said; it has to be equal to the other versions - or better

Lets put aside our Ninty love and think. @bolded, makes no sense, for the forseeable future the 360 will still be the lead platform they develop for so it wont have watered down ports. They wont be ports at all. Now when PS4 720 come along im sure Wii U will become lead platform

The thing with Wii U as a lead platform for development is the tablet-like controller. You can throw all the maps and inventories and what-have-you on there, but that is just not possible (as far as we know) on the PS720. The U could actually suffer for having a different controller in that aspect...

I disagree, those features are easy enough to implement, that it wont really put devs out of the way, and Sony has their own tablets and Vita and I wouldnt be surprised if they implement one or both of those for PS3 like Wii U's tablet. So that would give devs an even bigger reason to not freak out

Even if PS3 got Vita, why would WiiU be the lead plat? It'll definetly hold its ground against PS360 for sure, but when the PS720 comes? I think they'll be more powerful (how much? I don't know, but they will be) and why have the WiiU as the lead then? Wouldn't it be easier to develop the games for one of the PS4 or Xbox720 and then "down grade" them for the WiiU port??

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

No it wouldnt, otherwise we would have seen alot more "core" games for Wii  that was on PS360. Its much harder to downgrade than it is to upgrade, and the weaker the system that is being downgraded is the worse the resuly will be. Just look at Wii's library. I say Wii U could be the lead platform, for the same reasosn PS2 was the lead platform for most games. It might be cheaper to work with, it will have been out already before the comp and most importantly, like PS2 it will be the weakest but it wont be that weak that it cant run PS4/720. We'll be looking at a PS2/GC/Xbox thing again. UNLESS SONY/MS pull another PS360 and have a massive hardware leap, but considering how much that cost them, i seriously doubt they will do it.

Its definetly going to be on the system. If GTA launches after November, then its more than likely also going to be on the Wii U.

"If the WiiU got GTA V that would be incredible. Imagine what kind of innovations they would be able to pull off with the WiiU controller."
I can answer that one for you! A map at all times and crummy mini games that, if anything, break up the pacing of the game.! Just like the ds version. :P
I kid I kid.... but really, I bet that would be what they do except maybe they might allow you scroll through objectives and stuff too. It would be cool to draw your own objective route on a map and write notes for yourself though.

if rockstar is a 3rd party developer .

then theres a 50 percent chance automatically and since it is slightly more powerful then the other 2 by a good margin it makes even more sense to go along with a Wii U launch game , and that would be the best launch next to the ps2 snes and nes

I'm surprised by the reactions. I'm pretty sure the chance is 0% that GTAV is releasing on WiiU at all, ever.

Why?

Videogame development costs are at a level where the cost of porting a game and implementing tablet-controller specific features is tiny relative to the total budget of the game, and most companies are not going to ignore a platform that could provide millions of sales unless it is impossible to produce the game for that platform.

While I think there is a good chance that it might not be released for the Wii U simply because it might be launched too early in the Wii U's life, if it is released late enough I don't see why Rockstar would not release it for the Wii U.

We will definitely see GTA5 on Wii U, but not as an exclusive or timed exclusive.

The same can be said about a myriad of titles on the HD consoles, or better yet, titles that were on PS2/Xbox but were "somehow" omitted from the GameCube.

It should be clear by now that no western publisher is ever going to support a Nintendo home console.

I'm not sure but it does seem Reggie really wants it. They could use it too.
