Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Last Story Review Thread (Latest Score: 8.5 from IGN)

Argh, I can't decide whether to get this or Xenoblade for semester break. I really want Xenoblade but with 70 hours of playtime or something I'm afraid it will be the only game I can play. Apparently the Last Story only lasts about half as long and it'll be out just at the right time... gnaarf! Such a hard decision

I never got far into Xenoblade, I'm intending on returning to it at some point. I've got the Limited Edition of Last Story on pre-order for £18, thanks to some Amazon vouchers and their decent retail price of £38 for the LE. Very much looking forward to it, though I'm not sure when I'll be sitting down to play it through.

My copy of Official Nintendo Magazine arrived today and they gave The Last Story 86%

I could get a used copy for 1200 Yen ($16)... I wonder if I should get that considering my huge backlog and that I don't have much time to play games...

Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/

Man, how did it come to this? The Wii's release schedule throughout its life has just been so freakin' unbalanced!
For months on end there was nothing to play and I'd find myself resorting to B level games, if not worse.
The last six months I've been so busy I've barely had any time for gaming, and during that time we get Xenoblade, Zelda and The Last Story...

Where were all these great games during the early years of the Wii?
This will have to go on my 'to do' list for now... along with Kirby's Epic Yarn and a few other games I missed out on...
Curse you Nintendo!

Almost forgot Rhythm Heaven Fever, plus some third party games like Rayman, Rodea and DQX if they ever see a western release.... ghaaahhh!

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

8/10 from Edge:

Edit: Just realized the 8/10 is an old score and they scored it based off the import. Still worth adding though I guess. Maybe they'll have another review?

They might do, the next issue is out next week (a week today exactly) so if they're doing a PAL version review it'll be in that.

those are some pretty solid scores.   Haven't been into rpgs since Dragon Warrior and the original Final Fantasy.  So, between this and Xeno and with scores like these it's time I put my feet back into the proverbial rpg waters.

If you wan to get back into the genre, the mainline Pokemon RPGs are probably a good place to start.  They're pretty basic for beginners, but are also some of the most complex RPGs you can get for hardcore enthusiasts, with things like EVs and IVs which you only need to know if you're into competitive battling.

You can't really go wrong with playing some of the classics like the 4th and 5th gen Final Fantasies and Chrono Trigger as well.

Great thread, I am still hoping for a release in America. I have my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles fully paid and can't wait to play it, and if this game comes I will also buy. Please don't let it die Europe, I want to see some decent sales.

I'm actually a lot more excited for this than I thought I would be. As the take of the Huge town seems interesting. I'm more excited for this than mass effect now.

I remember gamefaqs being and certain places talking it down when it was released in japan. But everything aside from sakaguchi coming up with another silly name for a franchise. I'm quite excited.
