I'm hyped again!

I'm gonna get a Vita and a 32GB card. The graphics, from the demo of Gravity Rush/Craze that I played wasn't really that much more impressive than my 3DS but I've been thinking about it and I'm still sold. I still carry my PSP with around 20 games saved on a 16mb Memory stick.

-I can just port those games over, quick and painlessly.
-I have enough devices for music so I won't need the Vita for that.
-I mainly use my PSP for movies. I HOPE that it's easy to put movies on the Vita or that thing can stay on the shelf. I hope it can play more formats, too. Converting a movie for the PSP is a huge headache.
-I'll probably buy multiplats and exclusives for the Vita and exclusives for my 3DS

I know it's a quality console. If I approach it with realistic expectations (some people really know how to over-hype things), I'll be happy with it.

It probably doesn't play more formats than the PSP, or the PS3. There's some links in the oficial thread to an aussie guy who thoroughtly revieved the PSV as more than just a games device. He was not happy with the media formats it supports, sayind that it is exacly what the PS3 can do, that is, it's limited.

He was also extremely disapointed with the browser's functionalty (although he said it does not support HTML5, while I read somewhere that it does), and it's performance (slow loading, slow scrolling, like the PS3's).

And also, the multitasking support of the device (OS that is), is not great. For example, one can't launch the browser without closing the game.

Good thing all these are software dependant and all can be resolved/added later (but that doesn't guarantee that they will).

Just to set realistic expectations :).

"Let’s not beat around the bush; we like the PlayStation Vita, we like it a lot. In fact, we’re happy to say that we have never fallen for a handheld games console as much as we have the PS Vita. It is to hardcore gamers what a Penny Black is to a philatelist."

They said they liked it.................... what fanboys..... :/ does that mean that every review that praises a game is biased or anyone that praises hardware is biased have you not thought to yourself for one second that they might just have really liked it

The reviewer also said this in the opening segment:

That’s not to say that the PS Vita is without fault, however. Like any piece of consumer electronics, it sports a caveat party hat: The front and rear cameras are 640 x 480 (VGA), so merely functional at best; attempting to play with the much-discussed multi-touch pad around the back is the gaming equivalent of patting your head and rubbing your tummy; the battery life of roughly three hours for straight gameplay, five for media playback isn't great (although better than the 3DS); and loading times for games can be painfully slow, regardless of the fact that they are stored on media with no moving parts.

But we don’t care. Indeed, we care so little about these minor foibles that we’ve started the review backwards in order to get them out of the way. Job done, now on with the show...

Emphasis: mine. Liking something is okay, but quickly shoving negative points out of the way to have more space to talk up the product is not. A review should be a comprehensive evalution of the good and the bad, not either one or the other.

Mine??

look i've made my point i'm going to bang my head against a wall for a bit now might actually get somewhere with that

havent finish reading the op yet, it seems its a fair review

Finally someone understands that ios games can't compare to games on dedicated gaming devices. The review seemed fair except when he kept saying the Vita's battery life is better than the 3ds' battery life. I watched a video on vgchartz which compared the 2 handheld's battery and the Vita lasted around 4 hours and the 3ds went for I think 4 hours 40 minutes or something. I can't remember the exact times, but the 3ds won by a good bit. Other than that the Vita definetly looks awesome. I won't be picking it up at launch due to the lack of games that interest me, flaws with the Vita itself (really just the fact that there is no internal memory), the fact that I have to pay ridiculous prices for the things memory card, and of course the price of the whole package. Vita $250, 16 gb memory card $60, a game $50. That is almost $400 (including tax) for the bare minimum. It would be almost a whole $100 dollars extra if I upgraded to the 3g model and got a 32 gb sd card. That price is also only with one game as well! So really price is the biggest problem. If they lower the memory card prices, drop the price on the Vita itself a bit, and get some internal memory in it (which I'm sure will all happen in the next couple years) then I'll be picking one up.

1. Most (all?) of the tests I read or seen stated that the Vita's battery lasts longer that the 3DS battery. I might be biased here ofcourse.

2. The vast majority of the new games DO NOT cost $50 at retail. Really, as far as I know, there's only ONE game that costs $50.

The freeking price of the memory cards should come down fast I hope.
