I just got 3 notifications, but i could only find the source of 1 of them. This isnt the first time this has happened to me this week aswell, so i came here to find out what is going on... Has spurgeonryan randomly commented on a wall post i made 2 months ago? Or is there something much more sinister at play? :O

I NEED ANSWERS!

Happens to me all the time aswell, sorry no idea what it actually is though :P

It's something I saw also in my profile. I strongly believe it's because of Little computer people living in our machines. Or it's a Chtulhu sign.

Yeah, happens to me all the time. At least twice a week or so. It's just stupid.

They don't happen for nothing, if you see an orange icon that means YOU DO have a notification

It's just that when you check the list of notifications, it doesn't show the duplicate ones, like if someone replies to a wall post, then replies again later, it only counts as one list item

If you're really curious about it (they are for sure NOT just nothing), then you can check out the latest few items in your notifications list and see what's new there

It's most likely you posted on someone's wall, then someone replied to it

EDIT: Also, sometimes actions can trigger more than one notification... If someone comments on your status update, it counts as "someone commented on your wall post" AND "someone commented on a wall post you've written"

Conspiracy! Madness!

Yeah the notification system on here is not the best...you get multiple notifications for the same notification. For example a friend request comes through as a notification and a friend request when it should only be a friend request. Similar thing happens when someone posts on your status...as a status on here is simply seen as a standard wall post, so when someone comments on it you get a notification because someone is commenting on said status but you also get a notification because that reply to your status is on your wall (in other words a standard wall post). This leads to major redundancy regarding notifications, i found myself with 8 notifications a few days ago but in reality there should of only been 4 or 5 notifications.

Simply put this is some bad programming.

Or a very very odd design decision
