Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Star Wars Kinect Looks Beyond Terrible

Tagged games:

If there's one thing I've learned by now, it's that you can't just look at someone playing a game like Star Wars Kinect and say whether it's going to be fun, it really needs to be played before you can judge it properly.

In other words, shoot the messenger. That show was beyond horrible and those two hosts were cringeworthy.

As for the game, I still think it looks like something that can be a lot of fun. But it also looks like something that could be really bad, and it all just begs the question of why LucasArts thought Kinect would be the best fit for lightsaber game...

Lol @ MS Haters. So far the gimmick called Kinect has sold how much? And have fun pulling up your radial menu in ME3 for combat actions and conversations while I'm using voice commands.

The move can do voice commands. The Kinect doesnt have that over the move either, try again. Its Microsoft paying for voice recognition to be exclusive.

I havent really seen Move in action (in terms of voice commands). I know because my friend owns one and im intending to buy it.... well... this comming christmas.

Heres the specs. The mic is there and its powerful, Its just that no one has assigned a job to it. As I said Microsoft markets their products properly in the US.

I mean, if Move have such "powerful" mic. Why dont they fully implement it to the ps3 system like the Xbox has with the kinect. And believe me, it works flawlessly.

If Move have the tech, why does Sony ignore it? You get what i mean?

Maybe, MS already has its voice recognition tech plus a voice "reg" library updated to the kinect it self? Why Move doesnt?

Truthfully dude, I dont know, but the voice recognition can spot your position in a room and provide echo cancellation so it can recognize commands. The fact that Kinect has three cameras instead of just one is where it has the edge just as a camera. The Move uses controllers to control its depth instead of infrared cams. Commands can be programmed into the move, but thats up to them. The tech is there, its just up to them to use it. The Move is a ball of gaming potential and I will have it when it has enough supported games, but I am def a fan of the tech. Kinect is also good, but much better at gathering casuals at my dorms. Tons of girls at my dorm who bought an Xbox solely for Kinect and Dance Central. I swear if I was to tell them about something else they would have a heart attack. Fun game though.

Yeah,it is isnt it? Dancentral 2 might be one of my favourite kinect games out there.

Anyways.

"I swear if I was to tell them about something else they would have a heart attack."

Sorry but I just didnt get what you meant there.

Yay!!!

The host and the co-host need to be fired..

Microsoft is doing a fine job with Kinect, it's gonna repeat the iPhone success story eventually and everyone will follow.

Alright. Is this game a sick joke?

I hope it is.

I've got a bad feeling about this.

Are you saying this from a precious "how dare they soil my beloved Star Wars" stand point? or from a pure gaming perspective.

If its the first.. well... no comment, if its the second then fair enough.  I dont think it is "beyond terrible"... but yeah I wouldnt buy it.

Gaming. I think everyones in agreement that Star Wars was soiled long before this. .

I want to buy that bundle without the game for 50-60 bucks less please! Shit is hot!

Hell, they can take of 50 more dollars and keep there Kinect for me

hell no, that's a new color and I can use that for my PC

If you think it looks poor in that video you might want to remember that since Microsoft removed the CPU from Kinect there's around half a seconds worth of lag to take into account too. I'm going to wait until the 720 is released with Kinect 2.0 (with the CPU bunged in again) before I go anywhere near it.

I'm surprised that the highest rated comment isn't another one of those "ololol teh liek bar loox liek a lightsaber" comments.
