Amazon Reveals PlayStation Vita 3G/WiFi Launch Bundle

Amazon has revealed a new package for the upcoming PlayStation handheld device, the PlayStation Vita. Not to be confused with the PlayStation Vita First Edition, the 3G/WiFi Launch bundle will be released on February 22nd with a few extras.

For those who pre-order the 3G/Wi-Fi version of the PS Vita on Amazon.com you will receive the following extras:

Pre-order the PlayStation Vita 3G/Wi-Fi Launch Bundle to receive over $55 in bonus content. It comes with an 8GB Memory Card, DataConnect Session Pass, and PlayStation Network Game. All existing PlayStation Vita 3G/Wi-Fi pre-orders will be upgraded to thePlayStation Vita 3G/Wi-Fi Launch Bundle. Offer valid when shipped and sold by Amazon.com, while supplies last. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time.

These extras will come at no additional cost to the $299 MSRP standard for the 3G/Wi-Fi version of the Vita. This may raise some eyebrows and irk some others that may have pre-ordered the Vita First Edition. The First Edition (MSRP $349.99) comes with a 4GB Memory Card, Little Deviants game, and a Vita case in addition to the 3G/Wi-Fi system.

I’m not sure about you guys, but I foresee a few First Editions pre-orders being cancelled with this offer. So far, only Amazon is offering this promotion. We have reached out to Sony to see if any other pre-order bonuses or offers will be available for the Vita  and will update you if we receive any reply.

The PlayStation Vita will launch on February 22nd with a special First Edition available one week early on February 15, 2012.

Sound off in the comments below. Have you pre-ordered a Vita, will this change your pre-orders? Thoughts?

Special Launch Day PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi Bundle Announced

+ Posted by John Koller // Director, Hardware Marketing

With only 27 days until the launch of PlayStation Vita, we are excited to announce two PS Vita 3G/WiFi bundles. If you were one of the lucky consumers to pre order the PS Vita First Edition Bundle, in addition to the PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi hardware, a limited edition case, a 4GB PS Vita Memory Card and Little Deviants game, we will now be including an AT&T DataConnect Pass good for one free 250MB session, and a PlayStation Network game – both provided upon 3G activation. And the best part, you still get it a week before the official launch date.

We are happy to announce today that we will be creating an extremely limited edition PlayStation Vita 3G/Wi-Fi bundle designed to reward those who brave the cold to stand in line on February 22nd (or even those who come in the few days that follow). In addition to the PS Vita hardware, we will be including an 8GB PS Vita Memory Card, an AT&T DataConnect Pass and a PlayStation Network game all for the usual MSRP of $299. This SKU is part of a promotional offer and will sell out immediately so we strongly recommend that you purchase your PS Vita early to make sure you get the extra value!

While the system is a fantastic option, the addition of 3G-network access is perfect for the gamer that wants convenience, community and connection – basically the ability to immediately socialize with your gaming community. 3G also allows you to engage in multi-player gaming, utilize GPS location-based digital gifting, stay up to date with continuous LiveArea scores and game ranking news feeds, compete for in-game achievements, engage in PS Vita to PS3 cross-platform game play, cross-game message with Party, and have access to software updates, all while on the go. You’ll also be able to login to the PS Store and download new content and add-ons for some of your favorite titles.

There are lots of exciting updates still to come as we get closer to launch, and we will be sure to keep you posted. Our goal here at PlayStation is to transform every aspect of life into an entertainment experience. We know when you get your hands on Vita you may really never stop playing!

All I can say is wow...

Jesus, Vita is such a horrible waste of money.... 3G... proprietary forced memory on a system with card based games... ugh...

Well for the asking price of all this Vita related stuff, this is a decent deal. You'll spend $300 on a wifi only system anyways when you include the memory card and a game, so might as well just get the 3G version anyways.

If you're getting the Vita... best bet would be to just pre-order this.

I'm just gonna say you are full of it. it may not be worth the money to 'you' but to many it will be definitely worth it. Unlike the 3ds, from a hardware pov, psv is not over priced at all. don't like the 3g version? stop bitching and get the wifi one, no one is forcing you to do otherwise

OT: fantastic deal, I might have to get this one

I have a feeling that there is a very limited interest for Vita all around, hopefully numbers won't be as bad as in Japan (relatively speaking always)

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I guess my post I wasn't very clear, the wate of money part was in the specific features I mentioned; 3G and forced save cards. Vita itself is the same as any game console and its value is based on the content per everyone's tastes.

However, as for overpriced, etc... didn't a 3rd party company just state the cost of materials on the 3G model was around $160?

Preordered my wifi/3g and got some headphones and a £5 discount for an online game... :S

Very nice. However, I'm still just buying the regular one.

it's not a waste of money if people think it's worth it. same logic applies to 3g AND save cards. Not all games require it..don't like it? don't play those games. nothing is 'forced' here. I personally don't care much for 3g because to me as an individual it has little value but for some it will hold value...there are many who prefer to stay connected always and if you have the extra cash why not. seriously why whine tho? Sony have given plenty of options with the hardware so no one is forcing you to do anything.

and if you think 1. that information is rock solid 2. that's all that matters in pricing the hardware ..that is a sad notion in itself.

That is true. No other cost at all. Sony makes $140 on every 3G model. That is why their profits are increasing at an amazing rate.

Whether that $160 figure is actually true or not is beyond me, but Sony doesn't actually make $299.99 off of every PS Vita sold. They sell to retailers for a discount, then you have to add on shipping fees, taxes, currency exchange rates, and all that stuff. I hope they profit from the Vita, and I am certainly buying one.
