This gets better
Digital - if super mario user gets tired then can sell digitally extra which will drive extra rev..

Although there is no logo here, we are planning to release a totally new side-scrolling action Super Mario in 2D as a key title for the Nintendo 3DS in the next fiscal year.
With the fulfillment of software, we are confident that we will be able to make the Nintendo 3DS active for the full year as the mainstream platform in the video game market.

Digital is not enemy to retail, digital won't be priced so it cannibalises packaged, yet to decide and talk with partners

Wait hold on a minute, what?

Seems pretty clear to me. If a Super Mario player gets sleepy, he can sell any extra fingers or toes he might have been born with.

I mean, maybe they're talking about selling extra levels as DLC, but that seems far fetched.

It's just not something I expect out of Nintendo is all.

Yeah, they tried to allay those fears by saying they will still focus on providing the kind of the game out of the box that people expect from them.

Given how long Nintendo games maintain their full price and Nintendo's reluctance to compete with retailers (and what we've seen with ridiculous pricing of retail games on XBL/PSN), I'm rather interested to see what the digital copies of their games will go for.

" on WiiU it has to be next step, network has to have totally new cooncept to be different"

A somewhat more insane interpretation of that line would be that digital copies of games could be resold to other users, with Nintendo taking a slice of the transaction.

But that... would be crazy.

That's actually a great idea.

Haha, that was actually my first reading of it due to the weird phrasing and wishful thinking. (Who was it that was rumored to be considering this? Steam or PSN, I think.) Then I realized how crazy that would be and saw the context in which they said it.

All great news. NFC capabilities will be cool with interesting possibilities and finally something on the future of their network that is as it should always been.
