I can only buy this if MS goes fully digital - and I think if MS goes fully digital and kills used sales on the console it'll be taking a huge risk with market acceptance.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

This is ultimately coming from Kotaku, which says a lot about its credibility.
Not allowing used games would kill their next console, assuming other systems still allow it. It completely cuts out markets like GameStop and Ebay, and GameStop would probably refuse to carry the system at all.
a lot of people are saying digital distribution is inevitable, but we already know nintendo is not going to be taking part in any of this. come on, people, if you know nintendo, you already know thats just not how they roll.
I would have said absolutely nothing would make me switch to PS. I stand corrected.
That said, if this is even a credible rumour it could be something floated by M$ to test the waters and get an idea of the potential backlash. More likely it's another attention-getting ploy by a site trying to generate hits from the millions of people who really dislike M$.
I doubt it is true as the only way to accomplish this would be a download only service, or an internet connection check, and I doubt either one being required as not everyone has access to the internet. That would be a bad move on ms's side. Unless they will have deals on valves level it wont be worth it for consumers. I've always been suprised valve hasn't partnered with a hardware company to make a standard kind of gaming pc.
F*** Microsoft
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

that right there worries me. on one hand its crazy, i mean sometimes games go out of print and its impossble or really expensive to get it new, but on the other hand this is MS. So its not that farfetched
Thinking about this more, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a grain of truth to this but hopefully Microsoft would implement it in an intelligent way ...
To explain what I mean, if you could uniquely track a particular game disc and the systems it was played on it would make sense to put a limit on the number of systems a particular disc could be used in to prevent piracy. For example, if it was based on each copy of a game having a unique disc image you could limit the number of systems a disc could be played on at 32 and have (almost) no impact on any legitimate user but put a significant barrier on piracy of games. In contrast, if you were trying to prevent used game sales and set the limit low (like 1 system) you would be blocking a significant number of legitimate uses (like bringing a game to a friends house).
