Forums - Gaming Discussion - IGN: No used Games on Next Xbox

there is an article on ign about it:

Rumor has it the next-generation Xbox may limit exactly what kind of games you're allowed to play. According to sources speaking to Kotaku, the Xbox 360's successor will have some kind of anti-used-game enforcement. There's no explanation of what that means, but speculation surrounding the issue says the console could outright reject used-games altogether.

discuss and be maybe a little bit angry ;)

i don't know how this will work if they will make it like the online pass this would mean everyone has to connect his console with the internet in the future which wouldn't be a problem for me but maybe for some others. but man so more i read about the next gen so more i get angry about all the ideas. i don't sell a lot of my used games and when then one year or so after i bought it so for me it's not that bad but there are so many gamers who can't afford a console if they have to buy every game new and can't sell them anymore. i believe this could cut a lot of sales for the console itself.

I see no problem if Microsoft does this.

That is going to piss a lot of people off! What are they going to do? Follow what Capcom did with that Resident Evil game a few months back?
As long as the games are still great people will still buy them, but they will not be happy about it!

i don't know about that what did they do? but like i said in my first post i think many people can't afford to buy every game new without the chance to sell it after playing the game so maybe many won't buy the whole console then...

If you physically purchase the game its kinda of weird that you couldnt sell it or LEND it. If they downprice or offer 2 business model that could be good: "licensed copy" vs "owned copy".

yeah the problem is i believe we don't own the games after the purchase we just buy the right to play the game from the disc you get in the shop but it's still not yours. i believe this was like that maybe i'm talking garbage but there was something weird about the purchase of a game^^ maybe someone else knows more about this.

PC style registration code I bet, now the only question is if you will have to go online to register the games or not, only around 70% of 360 users are connected to the internet so I doubt they will go that far. It could just be a mandatory online pass or more likely they will take it a step further so you will need to register your game to get achievements/play online/get patches.

Or there is a small chance that the console will be 100% DD

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

they better not do this

heres 3 good reasons
1- at the end of its run id like to still buy games for it . and 9 times out of ten they wont be new .
2- your games would have 0 value because its got some sort of code so that the next person in line cant play it . . --might as well toss it when your done
3- 60 bucks a game . refer to 2

If Microsoft did that I wouldn't buy their system on principle alone ...

what so i cant borrow games or some shit? this is dumb regardless i hope they don't do it.

Yeah I think thats the rumor too. But I think offering 2 different business model would be the best way to adapt with the time.
