I will only buy the Wii U when it is at or under $199 and in its second or third year on the market with the start of a growing library of games.
Wii launched at $249 in NA and that was an attractive price that ultimately lead to the Wii winning the current console generation.

With the Wii U launching late 2012, it will hopefully gain support from third party developers critical for its success against its competitors:  Sony and Nintendo. Touch controls, improved GPU/CPU, HD graphics, multimedia streaming/synchronisation and an improved online system will be features of the Wii U. Hopefully full backwards compatibility with the Wii that will automatically increase the library of the Wii U at its launch.

Anything higher than 349 seems unrealistic for me. graphically it seems to be on par with the PS3 and 360, and they're both going for 249 (If you buy the Kinect bundle). I don't think people are willing to spend more than 100 $ or € more for an equal HD console + touchscreen interface/controller. Obviously there must a way to connect a second controller (how else are gonna play multiplayer?) and charging more than $100 for a controller?...nah, unlikely.

So what do we get? $249 console + $100 controller = $349. But who knows? Maybe Nintendo does another 3DS and adds a hefty profit on it?

I seriously doubt the Wii U will be on par with current HD consoles in terms of power. Do you have any evidence to support your claim?

Why would it not be? I've seen specs and reports that say it is indeed more powerful than the PS3/X360. I don't have them right now but I know I heard and saw them. The Wii U like all other consoles won't show it's true power right away anyway.

I'm actually expecting the Wii U to be fairly ahead of the PS360 in terms of power.

Haha, I'm sorry that I went into defensive mode. I toke your comment the wrong way. I thought you were meaning the Wii U would be worse, sorry.

300 just sounds like the sweet spot

Anywhere between $300 and $400 seems reasonable, but I think $350 is the most likely price for it

I was thinking the same thing.  I would love for it to be released at $300 but to be more on the realistic side I think $350 sounds right.

49.00 subsidized through a cable company with a 2 year contract...change the market nintendo.

Yeah, and then they hit you with a $300 cancellation fee for early termination of your contract... so might as well just pay the $350 for the system up front lol.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Depends what it's made of. By the end of this year I'll possibly be shelling out 2.7 thousand dollars on an awesome super computer... Well that's that budget anyway and I'm willing to get the best out there... Soooo the Wii U has to show what it's capable of before I think of buying it. Show me the software, and I'll value the price according to them.

$400 - it's going to be powerful, and I don't want Nintendo to go bankrupt xD

~~~~ Mario Kart 8 drove far past my expectations! Never again will I doubt the wheels of a Monster Franchise! :0 ~~~~
I'm expecting it to be around $350. I think Nintendo will be more willing to take more of a cut on the consoles after the 3DS.
I think $300 would be the sweet spot to launch the console at. The big factor is going to be how much the controller is going to cost. If people say that the controller is as light as it is, it makes me think the internals in it might be relatively cheap. I'm betting that a controller will be $60 to $80, with $80 being the most likely.
I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!
I'd like it to cost $499.99 and comes with a free 52'' HDTV.
