Playstation Lifestyle asks this question and gives an idea of what Sony should do with the PS4 main controller the DualShock 4 (it's been over 17 years, the controller has stayed mostly the same). What they ask to their readers is this, "Should Sony add a back touchpad to the DS4?"
I thought to myself this wouldn't be a good idea, because I hold my DualShock 3 in many different ways. Most of which have me touching the back bridge of the controller. After handling my DS3 while playing games like NBA Jam, Dungeon Defenders and Kingdoms of Amalur (demo) I tried to pay attention to what my natural position was. My middle fingers usually find their way to the back of the controller, leaving my pointer fingers on the L1 and R1 buttons. It's just natural for me I guess.
Once I tried keeping my middle fingers on the L2 and R2 buttons I didn't have to worry about affecting something like a touchpad back there if I held the controller like I was suppose. But again I thought, my natural way of holding the controller shows I could use the touchpad. What if developers placed the usual R3 and L3 buttons onto the right and left segments of the touchpad, leaving the the original R3 and L3 buttons to become new buttons themselves.
For my own idea I think the controller should stay the same price as it is now (they make a killing profit off of those controllers now anyways), but add a built in microphone. The PS4 should have voice command from the start.
Anyway, what do you all think Sony should do with the DualShock 4? Keep the design and improve upon it or trash it and start something completely new after 18 years of the same design.
