A sequel would be nice, was a very good game. My only big grip with the game is that they used a demon to designate liberty and an angel to designate order. That doesnt make sense outside religious thinking.

That's pretty extreme way to look at things...

What do you mean? Devil/angel, good/evil are religious notions. And since the meter was freedom/order, it sometime wouldnt make sense even inside religious thinking. Some freedom action werent evil per se, but would still go toward the demon part of the meter. I know they didnt wanted to put freedom/order up there, but they surely could find better then a demon/angel.

The bar wasn't liberty and order.

The bar was chaos-freedom-order.

Freedom was picking neither. Chaos was disrupting everything and turning into a demon. order was staying with katherine.

I mean I know his understanding about the meter is wrong, but that wasn't what I was talking about. It was the idea of someone hating something in a game  for having a religious backround that i find funny. A silly animation that serves as a meter in the form of shoulder angels bothering someone is a stupid reason  to hate something in a game.

Religious influences are well integrated in culture and language and are not going to simply disappear. I'm not preaching and I'm not a religious person, believe me, but that post made zero sense to me. If someone said they hated the shoulder angels because they were straight creepy, that would be a more valid reason to hate the symbolic figures.

I am the black sheep     "of course I'm crazy, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong."-Robert Anton Wilson

I'd welcome it if:

  • They don't destory its story by having a terrible ending. Once they revealed who was behind it all, everything went downhill fast.
  • Have dialogue that reflect your alignment. I was geared heavily towards Katherine, but Vincent would remain indecisive in the cutscenes (whenever the meter showed up). It felt like my choices only affected the ending, not everything in between.
  • Good replay value. The optional stuff was more box pushing which gets boring after four hours. Yes this game had 8 endings, but like I said before, the dialogue doesn't change which makes replaying it less appealing. I would rather just watch the remaining endings on Youtube than go through the same levels and dialogue 8 times.
  • Add more variety. Yeah they add new blocks, but the gameplay gets boring and old despite that.
  • Good, balanced characters. Catherine and Katherine were too extreme, and I didn't feel like ending up with any of them. Catherine was too crazy, while Katherine was too demanding. No thanks. I rather be single.
  • Have questions that don't feel disjointed from the story. Would you have sex with a ghost? Really??
If they fix those things, then yeah, I would like to see another one in five years maybe. New Persona game first though.

Did you get the ending where you meet her dad, catherine kicks her dad in the balls, they get married and vincent turns into an incubus! that ending is awesome and amusing. But, the twists right before that were dissapointing. The Katherine killed catherine but it was a dream bothered me the most.

I'll add on things to fix/problems with the game.

-the 2 player mode, didn't work at all not a big deal. But still it wasn't good.
-I had fun with the blocks the whole game. Just, they shouldn't have made the minigame, blocks.
-They shouldn't have anime cutscenes. The ingame models looked like a scanner darkly and in my opinion had more atmosphere.

I liked it a lot, But still, I like Persona 3, and 4 more. P3 a lot more. So they should make P5.

Who are you to decide what is or isnt a valid reason for criticism? I find your attitude very disrectpecful. I did explain why it was a grip to me (which you didnt understand, or it might be my poor english). Im not hating on the game, the meter is actually the only thing I disliked about the game.

Let me re-explain. For an agnostic, action arent good or bad. Chaos isnt bad, order isnt good. I didnt like that they label action as such. But its not only that, like I said earlier, the situation was extremely aggravated by the fact that the metaphor didnt work, some actions in the game that would go toward the chaos side would not even be considered evil by religious standards, vice-versa. Thats actually where most of my irritation came from. And then, this was all aggravated by the fact that the meter is shown very often. I think the game could have used more imagination when it comes to the meter and the action you do.

P.S.: I like tons of things that have a religious background.

My bad, I played the game back when it was release. Your right, same critisism though, just replace freedom by chaos lol. Thanks for the heads up.

Nah, I got the True Katherine ending, but I liked that ending you mentioned the most.

As for the anime cutscenes, the biggest problem for me was the sound. It was way louder than the ingame scenes, so yeah, I favor no anime cutscenes.

Still haven't played Catherine, can't get a sequel just yet!

I think you should put this on hold, what we need right now is Persona 5, not a Catherine sequel.

But seeing as Catherine did so well, its likely that Atlus will release a sequel, but they will probably take their time with it, like they do with all of their awesome games.

Gotta agree with this guy right here. Atlus said themselves that Catherine was an experiment they wanted to try on the PS3 before they started making some RPG's. A sequel to Catherine does seem feasible but I'd like to think that they're working on Persona 5 right now. Not to mention that they're definitely working on that Persona 4 fighting game.
