Read "Masters of Doom" by David Kushner. It's the best historical book about the industry.

If you haven't already read it, Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield sounds right up your alley.

what's it about?

oh and i already read the caesar series of iggulden too.

It's a great fictional account of the Battle of Thermopylae. Probably my all time favorite book.

I just looked that up on Amazon. Holy shit. I'm sold.

OT: I actually don't have many historical novels to recommend. I know Killer of Angels (on the civil war, very emotional) is supposed to be great.

Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever, great read.

If you weren't just looking for historical novels I would have plenty of amazing reads I could point you towards. But since you specified the only book I can recommend is Pride of Carthage.

It's a retelling of Hannibals attack on Rome and is greatly done. The author also has another series called Acacia, and while it is fantasy he weaves in historical conflicts and modern geopolitical and philosophical dilemmas beautifully into the story.

Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl Written by Herself
by Harriet Ann Jacobs, published 1861.
If you have a Kindle, this is free to download.

I can recommend Taiko by Eiji Yoshikawa.... and also Romance of The Three Kingdom by Lua Guanzhong....

Both of it is a great book..... and I think it's already translated in many languages.....

You won't regret it! It makes 300 seem like some Stephanie Meyer bullshit by comparison.

Try
'The Historian' by Elizabeth Kostova
'Baudolino' By Umberto Eco

Both historically based fiction & really good

Otherwise
'Brave new world' by Aldous Huxley (very similar to FF13's dystopian future concept & eerily prophetic to the current age in places)
'Never let me go' by Kazuo Ishiguro

For 'Dystopian future' social commentries

All are highly recommended
