I was only watching commie's ubermensch version of Girls und Panzer... for teh lulz... can't really said I enjoyed the first few eps other than the hilariously stupid subs by commie.

Why u mad? Commie made that show watchable.

So, bad impressions otherwise?

It's an Upotte/Strike Witches variant. Take it as you will.

Lol... indeed they did ;P

Still doesn't make the show itself much more amusing... btw, commie got one of the best reviews for their ubermensch subs on a german website (the one dark sage linked ;P)

makes me wonder, does anybody read dark sage's reviews? (and if it only is for the lulz like I do) He makes the fact that hadena exists much more bearable...

I can not believe took me this long to stumble upon this thread! Great resource to find out all the new stuff been missing out on. Have to be careful though, once I start a series...there goes the day in no time.

Yeah I remember one time in University, instead of spending the weekend studying for my exam I just power read through Bleach.

Said every internet anime fan ever. *yawn*

Each season has plenty of great shows.

And some bad shows too. I'm watching less anime, so I find it harder to be bothered to watch something.

Less Upotte, more Strike Witches. Despite all the hate on the show (I'm not saying it's not justified, after all there were loads of pantyshots), the latter had actual plot in S1. But then Gonzo went bankrupt and whan AIC took over, they reset it for an unknown reason...

Anyway, @Mr Khan: IMHO quite enjoyable and hilarious. It's got tanks and high school girls - basically all you need - with nice animation, actual plot and very good music (maybe except for OP/ED).

@up: That was how I started - 50 series in 2 months. I'm still quite amazed that it can be pulled off.

Gonzo went bankrupt?

Of course there are bad shows, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying at least 10-15 shows each season.

And panty shots are not a reason why anything can be bad. It's not something that can be argued as good or bad, I don't see how it can be objectively measured as something.

Well, that might be where we differ. I usually enjoy up to five shows, recently.

The main charge about Pantsu Witches is service overload, as well as its silliness (synopsis-wise). I do agree that these can't be used to measure "badness" of a show, but sadly, we're in the minority. The general idea is that "moe/fanservice = bad and people who think otherwise have bad taste" (Sankaku Complex didn't help with this particular article, which basically drew a false clean line between anime watchers). "Plotless moeblobs" and their watchers are usually subject to hate for no good reason (the only thing I could think of is that they have the creepiest fans, but that's not a good reason) and we can't do anything about it, other than simply ignoring it. The only bad trait a show can have that I can think of is being generic.

There's also the issue of bundling shows together because of a single common trait, like you did with Upotte and Strike Witches (and Girls und Panzer). I'm fairly certain you didn't mean anything bad and I do admit they give off similar vibe, but focus of each of these three shows lies elsewhere. Though this too is most likely something subjective.

I wouldn't dare qualify Sankaku by calling anything they write as an article. Dude who runs it lies and spins internet rambles to get a rise out of people and get hits to his site. I hope you don't actually believes anything he posts, right?

I only mentioned Upotte and Strike Witches as they're about cute girls in wars or with big weapons.

1: Wanted to apologize for political dustups of late. It's the only thing i get really mean about on this site, and i'd rather it not be. Trying to address that (as i'm supposed to be setting a higher standard, although my low standards for posting in politics means i let a lot of people get away with stuff i would crush them for on any other part of the site, but anyway...)

2: Thought Strike Witches was more strictly about the novelty of girls being hybrid battle-jets, whereas word about Girls Und Panzer has it having a good plot.

I'm rather lost for series to watch now that i'm caught up with the ongoing Shonen Big 4(Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tail, and Toriko) (watched Kokoro Connect and Cowboy Bebop since i finished Toriko, so i'm all over the place), unless i wanted to watch another huge series like Detective Conan, Sailor Moon, or Gintama.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I just watched the first 5 episodes of Another... HOLY CRAP!
