I like a more traditional plot, not into the new era style JRPGs like The World Ends With you and Persona. However I like both classic and traditional gameplay, it all depends on the quality of the story to me. e.g. Super Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger are my two favorite JRPGs. 1 is turn based, the other is active battle. I still like Tales of .... though, being action JRPG's.

I think I'll try Xenosaga, I have Episode 1 and 2, but greatest hits so I am going to try to get a nicer set to put on my wall lol.

All this because I bought a shelf from IKEA and now I can see all my games.

Ah, traditional plot wise, you'll see more of that in the PS1 collection:

Breath of Fire III
Breath of Fire IV

Star Ocean The Second Story - (despite it being futuristic, you'll be more than likely playing in a traditional mideval like world 80% of the game. If you loved Tales, you will love Star Ocean

Valkyrie Profile (Story is traditional though the gameplay is similar to in design as SMRPG, but somewhat more complex)

Edit: You should try out Star Ocean Till the End of Time as well

I think I will like Star Ocean, and I do like futuristic atmospheres, with classic gameplay. I'll likely get those titles too, but after I beat the current gen star ocean.

Isn't Valkyrie Profile a 2D JRPG?

Breath of Fire is in, I love 1 and 2 for SNES.

Valkyrie Profile's outside of battle gameplay is 2D dungeon scroller, the battle system is 2D but its turn based and not active.

Here's a video of it:

You input commands and do combo attacks and that in turn allows you to do some bonus attacks which can do alot of damage. You still have the choice of using items and stuff, along with that characters can be rotated and sacrificed and you can pretty much choose when to end the game in terms of storyline. The story is pretty good, all you do is you go out into the world finding people who are close to dying and deciding whether or not to help them and in turn make them join you or send them off to Ragnarok.

Wow, it looks a lot cooler then I thought. My type of game. Thanks. I'm actually going to the store now, I have Magna Carta 2, that alone should be enough to trade for Valkyrie Profile. Let's see how generous they are for trading, otherwise I'll have to sell my games on ebay and come back.

If you can get Valkyrie Profile for trading in a copy of Magna Carta 2, then please tell me where this store is.

Yea....I did not realize how expensive some PS1 games were. Got a lot of PS2 games, but PS1 wow.

Got Legend of Dragoon for PS1, but I already have XenoGears, Chrono Cross and FFIX, so It's good.

Got Drakengard, Dragon Quest VIII, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, Front Mission 4, Final Fantasy XII, and Shadow of the Colossus for PS2.

I did not get Front Mission 3 ($40) Grandia ($60) Tales of Anything PS1 ($60 or more), Skies of Arcadia ($40, but sold out), Breath of Fire 3 (sold out, but 1 cost $60 in the box), ICO ($50 and sold out), Shadow Hearts ($40 but sold out), Vagrant Story ($20 but sold out), and Valkyrie Profile (sold out, and $150).

Damn man, this summer I am going to start garage sale searching. I've seen many of these games dirt cheap before, and I even picked up a few valuable titles (e.g. Zelda 2, gold cartridge, in box for $2, worth $40 now, and Conkers Bad Fur Day in Box for $5, worth $60 now). Next summer I will look around and complete my collection.

While we're still here, any other games you guys reccommend for me for the future? I'll include games I own above. Basically I have a pretty in depth Nintendo (SNES cartridge only, N64 and newer, complete with boxes) collection, and a pretty complete Sega and Microsoft collection (Don't have Saturn, but basically all the Sonics and exclusives in boxes). Want to complete my Sony collection, and well yea, be a nerd.

And beware of DQVIII. I loooved that game but it's very very retro. It took me by surprise at first and I didn't like it but I tried it again another time with more accurate expectations and it was amazing.

I actually want it because I love how it plays. I got the demo a long time ago, which lets you play the first hour of the game, and....damn it took me by surprise too. I liked it more then any Final Fantasy, so I know what I'm getting into. I'll think about Dark Cloud, but should I get 1 before 2?

Also have you played Dragon Warrior VII for PS1? Is it similar to VIII?

Dark Cloud 1 and 2 are not related and the first one was nothing amazing so you should definitely go right to Dark Cloud 2. The graphics are cel-shaded so it aged pretty well!

DQVIII is actually the only DQ game I've played so I can't really tell.

*hugz*

Alundra 2 is an Action RPG Puzzle game. A hidden gem from PS1 era. I couldn't think of anything else since a poster above made a list of pretty much every RPG in existence.

A lot of people seem to hate Alundra 2, I enjoyed it.

I edited the OP to be my dream list. PS1 games are expensive, so I hope to find some garage sale bumping.
