Why is the Japan Preview always so wrong about FFXIII-2? :(

to benao87 (for some reason quoting never works for me on this site).

Tales games are good sellers, but most definitely not system sellers on par with monster hunter, mario etc.

Also the Tales game being released for the PS Vita is a remake of a 4 year old DS game that sold 260k. Basically I wouldn't get your hopes up for it too much. Don't think anyone would view a 4 year old Ds remake as a big title that will help sales.

Didn't know that, I don't really follow the PSV, perhaps some others could tell you which other big games it may get. However, besides Monster Hunter you won't really find a heavy title which will be on par with the ones from Nintendo first party.

Everything up. Wii>Vita again

It will be sad next week when everything drops :(

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Because the previews are just inaccurate guess work.

3DS is killing Vita.

That is a FACT.

Like it or not, excuse this or excuse that, it does not change the FACT that the 3DS will have a MASSIVE lead when the Vita goes global.

Arguing about the reasons WHY will not change the FACT that the 3DS is selling leaps and bounds above Vita.

Does this mean that the Vita is "doomed" for all of eternity? Of course not. But to act like the Vita is "just 1 title" away from the closing the gap set by 3DS is silly.

I've got nothing but time...

Last year numbers...

DS: 87,118
PS3: 59,612
Wii: 56,547
PSP: 32,841
360: 3,859
PS2: 2,547

YoY

DS down 91%
PS3 up 25%
Wii down 12%
PSP up 116%
360 down 29%
PS2 down 48%

PS3 and PSP are doing a GREAT yoy job in Japan.

Did you read Acevils post? This week included a popular day of shopping not included in the same week last year, which should theoretically mean they should be down YoY next week?

And thanks for the numbers Acevil!

Even without that day the PSP will be up yoy... PS3 I don't know.

After MHP3 craze PSP had some serious shortages last year during this time. Still of course it's doing well considering that it has already successor but this week is not comparable at all.

Next week will be the biggest tell and most likely the PSP will be up YOY with ps3 maybe tied or a little above.

2nd week 2011:

PS3 33,190
PSP 29,806
Wii 21,291
DSi LL 17,452
DSi 13,416
Xbox 360 2,636
DS Lite 1,956
PS2 1,629
PSP go 1,208

I don't really care about Vita sale atm. I just want the PSP to keep chugging along long enough to top the GBA in sales worldwide. Japan is where it is performing best.

About the same numbers for psvita this week.(tiny better)

Due note, everything went up, while the Psvita stayed roughly the same. It is considered holiday like week for this week. (Everything should go down next week).

Why is it considered a holiday like week o.O?

Good to know Kirby, Mario series still making $$$$!

Horrible news for Vita, hopefully once the system goes world wide and gets more releases the sales numbers will be higher than what it is now.

Something about people getting money on New Years Day for spending. Don't really know that much, just know that:

New Year Day = Holiday with money being recieved = Increased sale volume from previous week = Huge decrease in sale volume the following week.

Ooooh I see. When I saw you said New years.... I kept confusing Japan with Chinese New year...LOL (~-~)

I assume it is the same concept of money being recieved on New Years day, but Japanese version uses the Gregorian Calender (the one we use, where New Year is January 1st).

Add: Manuel or someone else from Japan would do a better job explaining it.
