There has been alot of Chatter going around about PS4 and X720 being showcased at the coming E3.I predict it won't happen.My reasons,well they are as follows:

1)Number of Games for Current Generation :The Games coming in 2012 and beyond for the current generation consoles is just a big amount are just alot on numbers and they aren't just end of the generation games but big titles.They don't require a new console as games supply isn't drying up.People won't care about next generation as they have alot to play this generation.Here are they:

2)Developers Profits : If Sony or MS announce new consoles then the games already in development in various game studios will take a hit as people's attention will then be towards new console and they will look at current generation as old.Developers need more time to recoup their development

3)Price cuts and current gen sales: for both 360 and PS3 have to happen.Price-cuts drive sales but if people know something better is coming in 2013 then it won't matter much.YES,even the announcement itself does alot to the human mind.360 is long overdue a price-cut and PS3 can't be $249 when new generation is starting.There are alot more sales that can still come out of this generation itself

4)Generation Profit : Both MS and SONY suffered big losses this generation.MS might just have broken even.But even then they both need to recoup their losses as much as they can and try to profit as much as they can.

4)Wii U : If Sony and MS offend Developers in anyways which have been on their side,Nintendo will be ready to capitalize.Developers will actually like it as Wii U's development costs will be the around the same as current generation HD consoles which will help them transfer games to Wii U.

5)PS VITA launch :Sony will launch Vita,PS4 announcement will take the attention off Vita which is needed as they need Vita to be popular in its first year.

6)Economy :The world economy is a complete mess and will get worse this year,It is so bad that even announcement will get affected.nobody will have the time for Big gaming announcements

I don't think they them-selves (as in anything playable) will be there. But there will be some announcements and some specs and some market lingo to try to lessen the impact the Wii U's "launch show".

the Wii U has had a very poor response,they don't need to do anything to counter

The E3 before Sega launched the Dreamcast, Sony presented the PS2 for the first time
The E3 before Nintendo launched the Nintendo DS, Sony presented the PSP for the first time
The E3 before Microsoft launched the XBox 360, Sony presented the PS3 for the first time
The E3 before Nintendo launched the 3DS, Sony presented the PS Vita for the first time

I think I'm seeing a pattern here, who wants to fill in the gap

Regardless of whether you're a die-hard Sony/Microsoft fan and believe the Wii U will "Flop", Sony and Microsoft will display their consoles as an alternative to the Wii U in order to give people reason to wait. If the Wii U does "Flop" they can always delay the release of their console, but if the Wii U is successful they don't want to wait 24 to 36 months to respond.

I expect 'something' about at least one of them to be mentioned/shown at E3...what that 'something' is, well..once again we play the waiting game.

Not that I really care, right now, with so many games I´m looking forward to (Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Asura´s Wrath, etc..)

Both will show up in some form. neXtBox in a far more final variant, but PS4 will be shown as well.

Its going to be an interesting E3.

Cept your wrong Vita was announced and shown well before E3, at a Sony conference where they also annouced Playstation Suite
