Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer will deliver a preshow keynote address at the 2012 International CES in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“We are pleased to welcome Microsoft back to the CES keynote stage,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “From mobile to desktop to gaming and beyond, Microsoft has a significant impact on all aspects of the consumer technology industry, and Steve Ballmer's keynote is a great way to kick off the exciting 2012 International CES. We are excited to hear Microsoft’s latest initiatives and Ballmer’s vision for where consumer technology is heading.”

Microsoft has used the CES keynote stage in previous years to unveil innovative new products, including the original Xbox and Avatar Kinect.

Possible announcements

Xbox 360 lifetime sales
Kinect lifetime sales update
Software for X360/Kinect
Apps/Kinect stuff
New Console.

Don't get too excited though, there is a chance we get nothing at all.

Tagged. 9 hours hmm...

9 hours still, they should host the keynote earlier in the day... 4:30 AM is a really sucky time for me to watch a keynote...

Seece, could you wall post me on how to "tag" a thread?

Thread is up early to give people notice.

Thanks for the heads up Seece. So 8:30 tonight for me.

Any news on a live stream?

Tempted to stay up for this, although can't seem to find a stream for UK.

I think we'll hear a lot about windows mobile platform, its eventual extension with Windows8, bragging about Xbox brand in general and Kinect, and then I do think we just might hear about a new console. But I'm still leaning on that being formally introduced at E3.

However, if we do hear about a new console now, then Jay might as well agree that I won the bet. :)

CNET is the plce to watch - http://www.cnet.com/?tag=hdr

I will give a more definitive link closer to the time though.
