"Statistical tie" basically another way to say "one will win, but on the grand scheme of things, it'll be negligible". Basically a phrase that can keep everyone happy.

Wonder if Sony will cut the hardware any further, and when MS will cut theirs, 360 is still selling well without the price cut as it is.

I am gonna go and say the 360, because in the 2012 prediction thread, I said that Kinect will peak this year. That plus a price cut could do the trick by the end of the holiday season. But if Sony cut the PS3 price again, things might look different.

I think he meant "PS3 woll win, like it won 2011", not "PS3 will win, because it won 2011".

Either way, I'd like to see some reasoning in the answers.

360 will win.

PS3 has had a fair few price cuts and in a lot of places i.e UK is now pretty much same price as a 360.
The 360 is due a price cut as will be going into the 4th year since the last official one soon.

I think in UK we will see the arcade version (4gb version) drop in price to £99 soon. And i imagine they will then do kinect style bundle for around £140.

The thing is MS can do that and still make profit. Where as i don't think the PS3 can or will go lower without again making losses. And right now i think Sony is more concerned with Vita taking off.

So i think 360 just because realisticly this will probably be the last 12 months of the console being the only MS console out or about to come out. They will try and milk it for all it's worth.

same as this year except the HDs would swap meaning 360 ahead of PS3, that is if VGC numbers corresponded with NPD and shipments

even if PS3 cuts another 50 (i dont see more than that) i dont think it would do much for markets like US.  a X-box cut shouldnt have that much of an effect unless they go to $150 and $200 (it's possible that they might keep the price of 200-300 and just add value ie. axe the arcade reduce 250gb to $200), i think though that what ever they do they'll time it right with either one of these SW releases Halo, gta, or COD that will have an bigger effect compared to sony's 2011 one

wii will not be a factor at all you'll see when NPD Dec. releases, wiiu i dont think will be able to accumulate the amount needed either,  X-box will have its peak year this year still pondering if this will be the case for sony
