I was actually being sarcastic but anyway there is no way they will ad these extra buttons if it’s a lite 3DS as it will be thinner. If it is called 3DS fat and fatter than the one we have now then sure the fatness of it would be to add the extra stuff there  

i wouldn't mind picking up a second 3DS (as back-up) if they release a new version. though a lite version is highly unlikely, I do expect an XL one though.

The 3DS is too petite as it is, I get hand cramps when I play the thing and I have tiny hands with slim fingers, imagine a poor fellow with bear like hands playing the thing. Even if the Lite comes with 2 sliders I wouldn't care because I actually want that 2nd slider peripheral to increase the thickness. I certainly wouldn't play it like that in public though.

Happy I got a the 3DS zelda bundle. If theres another version of the 3DS I'll just use that one, and keep the one I already have as a "look but dont touch" console

For handhelds, yes, Nintendo always revises their products.  So does everyone else.

For home consoles, Nintendo is pretty much the only one that doesn't do major redesigns.  They just do new colors.  I've lost count of all the SKUs the 360 and PS3 have had.

One is certainly coming, but its timing is uncertain. Perhaps holidays this year to really get the (hopefully by then, profitable) 3DS going while the Wii U comes out
