Forums - Gaming Discussion - SE's Wada speaks out again

from NJ5
I used to appreciated Dodece's posts, but lately he's becoming the drama queen of FUD arguments.

Here's something for you to refute Dodece - the 3rd party titles you slagged off, while possibly being bad (although not according to most people, at least for RE4), have proven beyond doubt that 3rd party software can sell well on the Wii even if it's not party games.

As the Wii userbase grows, even if a given title has a very low attach rate, it will have great sales as long as it's a good game with good marketing (and a bit of luck, as always in business).

The only people who care about attach rate are console makers (due to royalties) and FUD makers like you (due to the weak power it gives to their arguments). Absolute sales numbers (coupled with expectations) are the real measures of a game's success, and that's what 3rd parties and investors look at.

Dodece, you're obviously a smart guy... Why don't you use your brain for something more productive than those half-assed arguments you've been posting lately?

Can you show me the other 3rd-party games that sold well on the Wii? RE4 already proved successful on the GC and PS2, this was also at the end of the last gaming generation. RE4 is (and was at that time) currently one of the greatest games ever made as well. Obviously it's going to sell great.

The few decent 3rd party games which were released on the Wii sold pretty well, I don't know what other proof anyone can give you. If/when a good (and decently advertised) 3rd party game flops on the Wii, we can start worrying about whether this may be a problem or not, but until then, the evidence we have should lead us to believe that good software will do well on the Wii, no matter who made it.

The first exclusive 3rd-party title I see doing well is Rayman and it's in 12th place. I only see 2 million sellers that are exclusive and 3rd party on the Wii. The Mario and Sonic Olympic game is 2nd party, right?

 Now it's about exclusives?

Why did we suddenly change the discussion to exclusives? And you do realize that by this measure the PS3 still has 0 million sellers, correct?

Mario & Sonic it's a 3rd party game. Published AND developed by sega.

And ps3 has 0 million sellers according to you, lol

Your arguments are stupid at best. I guess all the profit made by Activision from GH3 Wii doesn't count just because it's a multiplatform game

6 months ago: Wii owners only buy Nintendo software, mini-game collections and party games!

Now: Wii owners only buy Nintendo software, mini-game collections, party games and 3rd party non-exclusive games!

A few months from now: Errr... ummm... Err... Wii Fit is destroying the gaming industry!

What does the PS3 have to do with this? I never mentioned anything about it.

1) You still didn't answer the first question: why did we suddenly change this to exclusives

2) The PS3 certainly does have something to do with it. If we were to agree that third party sales are poor on the Wii (which we don't necessarily agree on), the fact that third party sales are even worse on the PS3 is a fairly relevant consideration. It would mean that despite (supposedly) poor sales of third party games on the Wii, the PS3 is even worse for third parties, and thus deserves the support even less.

Again, I do not necessarily agree that third part sales are poor on either platform. I think they're fine on both, personally.

Same to you, I'm talking about the 3rd party exclusives on the wii, why are you deviating?
