Forums - Microsoft Discussion - What would you like to see in halo 4?

Well, for me Halo 3 was just flat out more fun to play than Reach and I like Reach a lot. I agree that it offers way more in terms of variety and I think Halo 4 will continue in that direction. I can see 343 going above and beyond in offering a multitude of gameplay choices, especially in multiplayer. I would also like a BR again as well as some crazy new weapons. I'm pretty easy to please campaign wise but I like the sci-fi aspect of Halo so as much of the universe as they want to expose me to, the better.

I think Halo 4 will bring the franchise back to the limelight with Master Chief 's return too. I don't expect it to be COD or anything but I'm sure it will have some impressive sales none the less. I can't wait to see all of the hooplah leading up to the release, especially the epic live action commercials. You know MS will spare no expense for their baby so be ready for all of the crazy Halo advertising and the venom spewing haters shit talking how MS spent a hundred million bazillion dollars just on advertising Halo 4........I can't wait.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

You know what would be cool? Now reach has lots of different armor, and every one has a function like eva (outside vehicle combat) ot recon (scouting). But what if they made the functions in the gameplay too? Example: someone with the eva helmet would have a bigger view of his surroundings. It would make halo 4 one of the most original games ever created just because you could play it in so many different ways!

I especially can't wait for the first gameplay trailers and all that. Also it would be awesome to sprint on the go, not including AA's. Also to use the new dark aliens we are fighting weapons in the multiplayer, not so much customization though. Something I thought about the other day was it would be cool if you were to find armour in the campaign (not so much unlock it though) and be able to customize chief, only and idea though. I also hope for Arbiter to return at some point in the trilogy in some way, hopefully in a big way though.
That is all

There is no doubt that halo lost some of its massive prestiege it held prior to the countless of spinoffs that came out after halo 3. This year master chief is finally getting an official sequel, and I believe it's make it or break it time. If halo 4 fails to live up to expectations, it might spell the end of halo as a megafranchise above everything but CoD, Mario, Wii, and GTA.

So what do you believe halo 4 needs to deliver to gain back some of its luster and not feel like just another sequel or do you think halo games have been going the right direction already?

......excuse me

Lost its prestige?  End of being a megafranchise? Gain back luster?

Since Halo 3, Halo Wars is the best selling console RTS of all time. ODST......an expansion, outsold Uncharted 2 the same year. Halo Reach improved upon Halo 3 in almost every way (and has the sales to back it up). Halo Anniversary is the fastest selling remake of all time.

The only thing that suffered since Halo 3 was a lack of Master Chief. This will be remedied in Halo 4.

Okay lets see with halo 1, halo 2, and halo 3. Nearly every single critic unanioumously gave the game near perfect scores. Over 30% of the console's install base would buy the game DAY 1. It was the biggest game in America as long as a GTA didn't come out in the same year.

Halo Reach while obviously still one of the best selling games ever, had a pathetic attach ratio compared to halo, halo 2, halo 3. It didn't even manage to have a bigger opening week than halo 3 with a userbase 4 times as big. Yes it was adjusted down to below halo 3 week 1 if you check the charts. According to npd, halo 3 is tracking way ahead of halo reach, so it is only keeping up due to heavier bundling than halo 3. Yearly CoD sequels have started outselling halo games on both platforms consistantly. Many franchises are growing but halo has remained stagnated.

Halo sales are obviously very impressive but compared to what it once was, they are dissappointing. Xbox has grown as a brand massively after halo 3, but halo hasn't. Yes even with the loss of prestige it is still bigger than nearly everything else, but its undeniable that it could have been a lot bigger.

Well Halo 1-3 were at a time when Halo literally carried the Xbox brand. That changed post Halo 3. Reach is above 90 on metacritic and amazing sales (even more with digital bundles).

But I think the main culprit is a lack of Master Chief post Halo 3. That alone will reinvigorate the series.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Yes that would be completely awesome. If they don't do something like that in Halo 4 I'll be somewhat disappointed.

I think 343 will do a good job. I LOVE what theyre doing so far, and i think Halo 4 will be amazing.

I would love for it be more like Halo 2/3, i LOVED Reach, i have 6 days of gameplay in Reach, but Halo 2 and 3 were my favorites. And i hope it has a really mysterious, long, and exciting campaign like halo 2. And i hope for an epic ending too.

This. More like Halo 2 (especially in terms of the campaign) and Halo 3 (especially in terms of the multiplayer with the best bits of Halo Reach sprinkled in like credits and lots of different armors to choose from.

And they also need to have a bunch of new cool weapons, enemies, vehicles and maybe a few gadgets in Halo 4. Some very light RPG elements in the game would be great like being able to change your armor and some aspects of your weapons (silencer different scopes) during the campaign which would let you do different things much like Crysis or Mass Effect. And it looks like the setting of Halo 4 would make it very possible to do some awesome new things like that.

I especially hope they combine the best of Halo 3/Halo Reach multiplayer and add in some cool new things on top of that. Also I hope they really push on the graphics front and make the best looking 360 game.

Unfortunately, Halo will never be the best looking 360 game. One of the key aspects of Halo is split screen multiplayer - they won't eliminate that. Unfortunately, if you want a game to be able to look as good as it can possibly look, you have to sacrifice the split screen - it just takes too make resources. They may be able to squeeze out slightly better graphics can reach, but to make a split screener the best looking is impossible.

Reach is better than Halo 3 imo. More content, better campaign, improved forge, firefight, and multiplayer is just better and more well polished. The only reason Halo has gone slightly down in popularity is COD. It's not a horrible thing because now most the casual players horde COD, while true Halo fans will stick with Halo. Halo's just not the "it" multiplayer game like it use to be during Halo 2 and 3 days, but that doesn't make it a worse game.

Like most folks said, almost every Halo after Halo 3 has been a spinoff(to even some extent Reach), but everyone will see with Halo 4 that the franchise is still very much popular. It just needed a proper sequel.

This. I'm sick of people complaining about Reach's Multiplayer... Its leagues beyond any halo title. In my experience the people that complain just suck at it.

Yeah I know, the graphics whore inside of me crys at the thought of not having ridiculous graphics but I still prefer having split screen and whatnot to having the best graphics on the 360. As long as it's better than Reach I'll be happy.

i wish to see the sign of the next xbox when i start the game. i don't need a new halo for xbox 360 i would be happy with halo 4 in 2013 as starting title for the next box. yeah this won't happen or maybe only the 360 version with few more textures but taht's what i won't seeing in the next halo game, the next xbox sign^^
