I wonder if they know they are just going to fall into a trap? This group has already taken a lot of damage thanks to Sony's attacks on them.

It's great to think that Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft are all on the same team.

Well it's not so great if they are all on the same team for a bad bill.

As a person who owns his own site, I completely agree the bill sucks.

But I'm not going to stand here and say that Anonymous is right in the shit they pull. It's amazing they can "accomplish" these feats, but they do not speak for me. They never will.

To be fair though anyone could say they are Anonymous and make a retarded video like that. I'm not sure if that is actually the Anonymous group.

I thought it was only Sony's music branch that supports SOPA. Going for all of Sony would be like beating the crap out of someones dad for their son doing something bad.

I'm all for protecting freedom of speech, but everytime something gets hacked. The service or product goes down. Or my personal information gets taken. I'm tired of this crap. Me losing the ability to play games online (that I paid for the game system, the game and whatever else I need) pisses me off. But that isn't even the worst part of it. Other websites going down. What would happen if Anon "attacks" VGChartz?

Granted it has its problems, but VGChartz could go offline for a month. What would you do then?

"and it will be for the people, whether some like it or not."

I am so sick and tired of hackers using this BULLSHIT excuse every single time they go after something or somebody.

It has nothing to do with being for the people. It is for their own personal agenda and for the lulz. The funniest thing is that a majority of companies aren't going to change anything when they continue to get hacked except for how tight their security is.

Also, as other people mentioned, why Sony? Yes, they are big, but Microsoft is far larger than Sony is. Why don't you hack them Anonymous? Wouldn't that be far more significant if you were able to hack Microsoft?

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

Why is there so much opposition to the SOPA bill? I must admit, I'm not hugely familiar with it?

1. US Copyright holders (i.e. major corporations) are allowed to petition the Justice Department to direct Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block websites they feel infringe upon their copyright. Not to dismantle the sites themselves, but merely to block them from USA access

2. ISPs will be required by law to do deep packet investigation of all upstream or downstream internet information

3. Any infringing activity will be criminally punishable

Now, not much sounds bad on the surface (though point 2 is worthy of alarm), but this means that websites all the world over are going to have to take strict measures to eliminate all use of non-approved material, or else they will be hunted down and banned from USA access, so even major international sites will have to follow these rules. Like that picture of the Atari 2600 in your avatar there? You take that stolen property of the Atari corporation away you dirty thief, or else VGChartz could be banned from US markets.

Nicely put and you actually made it seem like it sounded worse as it is xD!

Google is against this notion though from what I hear mostly because Youtube will be heavily affected if SOPA passes.

This has me the most worried.  Even now I have random "I never heard of this vaporware companies" saying they own my videos putting advertisements in them, still in a battle with one of them currently (been 2 months and they still won't let go).

I do have all 96 vids on my harddrive if they ever get deleted, but my god if this bill passes YouTube is as good as dead.

Apparently Microsoft does not support it

Huh? I think you missed what I meant.

What I meant is that the person who made that video might not be the actual group we know as Anonmous. It could just be some asshat who made that video to be stupid.

I doubt any hacker is going to actually try and "take down" Sony

While I am against SOPA, it seems like a pretty lame excuse to attack Sony again because they support it.

Cry me a fucking river!
Please, show me anybody who lost anything due to internet IP piracy.
Seriously!
Who?
Have any industry executives taken a pay cut?
Has the lifestyle of the IP creators degraded? (Answer: NO!)

Hell, I'll bet even Rob Schneider made money last year!
